tach repairers/rebuilders?
"While I was in There" redoing the dash and pod covers, I tried to replace the "D" shift selector light. (Followed one of the threads here on the Forum.) I guess I butchered something, since both the tach and shift selector now don't work. Has anyone had a good experience with an instrument repairer?

I've used Palo alto speedometer for 356 guages in the past. It wasn't cheap but the quality was excellent and the people were very knowledgeable. Their websight states they do 928 work.

Yup, that's usually the most economical solution. I broke my speedo needle 2 years ago and just bought a used speedo to replace it.
I have an entire gage cluster out of the parts car (86.5, Auto) for sale. If you are interested, I can sell you the entire cluster or just the tach. Send me a PM if interested.

North Hollywood or Palo Alto... worked for me, probably U 2
if you go the repair route.
Buying used could work too. Also did for me. I got a used speedo
from 928Int'l and had North Hollywood recalibrate it for 200 MPH.
Probably one of the few 928's so scaled.
Yes, I know, the car won't do 150 in free fall, but it's fun to look at on my dash.

G'luck.

I hate to do this, but first used Palo Alto back in the late 90's. Actually went to their shop while in California while they were working on my speedo. Alas, their repair did not solve the original problem (heat related), but I lived with it. Largely because of the issue of tearing everything apart, I took another run at it a couple of years ago. Long story short, it took about a year, multiple shipments, communication errors, and more money before finally throwing in the towel and replacing the unit with a used one (which they successfully calibrated). They did work with me, but did not do what I had requested and more than once thought they had repaired the unit. There are many quality VDO shops around the country. Personally, if I have another need, I will probably use Continental Imports in Florida based on several other transactions I've had with them.
