Thanks, Brian. A 993 color on a 997.
Here's the start of a Chocolate Brown MY78 928 with Cork interior down the production line. It's literally pushed along during this stage, on 4 small steel wheels. That was a radical departure from today's Porsche production lines, which crank out a new 997 every 55 minutes.

These are all great. It surprises me they let you take them. Patents and trademarks and such. I guess since you spent all that $ they didn't mind. I'll check out the rest tomorrow. Thanx again!

The 1977 factory was cluttered with components. The 2006 factory receives deliveries from 150 trucks a day. For example, one vendor arrives every 30 minutes with 6 front suspensions, all in production sequence order. The 928 build area was cluttered constantly with engines sitting around, awaiting their turn to go into cars.

I spent about ten times as much this time in 2006 and they wouldn't let me near the line this time with a camera. Porsche is extremely protective of their processes today. In 1977 they never had a problem with private photography. I suspect that another factor is the distraction to the production crews. Time is of the essence today, and little time is allocated for distractions. (Note in several pictures how distracted the crews are by the presence of a photographer).
