I'll take a different angle. If you think the pressure is equivalent to dead-lifting 30-40 lbs, then I would consider having your knee scoped. The area below the knee is a common problem spot for people, especially athletes. If the protective fluid in the joint or the cartilege itself is deteriorating, then you could get direct bone-on-bone contact during full extension.

I know this isn't WebMD and I am certainly not a doctor, but it seems fair to note that you're experiencing pain during relatively normal exertion. Probably worth checking in to.

Elsewhere, if you're sitting on the fence about becoming a Rennlist Member, I can heartily encourage you to join. The best $17 I've spent on the old boy.

Peace,
Tim

Do we need to set up a fund so she can have a full membership to post the leg shots?

There are factory extensions which bolt onto the pedals. They are 15mm, and can be stacked for 30mm.

928 423 207 00 - clutch or brake

928 423 213 00 - brake pedal, automatic

Ok, but at the risk of repeating myself, is this a condition that can suddenly appear overnight? With NO warning?

If adjusting the clutch doesn't improve my lot fairly quickly, I'm defintely doctor-bound.

Awww shucks...my husband's membership (Privt666) doesn't count for me too? LOL. It was definitely a good $17 investment to spend on him....for myself, I dunno. It's not like I actually work on my car, and I still vicariously get the benefits of membership through him...mostly I just like hanging around reading everyone else's thoughts so that I have some new and interesting fodder for conversations with my husband!

You're a great bunch of guys...thanks for the tips and sympathy.

AWESOME! Thanks, PorKen! Wow, they actually made a fix for short people before they knew it was a problem?? I'm amazed!! Wonder if 928 International carries them?

Get a cushion that fits behind you and is big enough to cover your back. Your hubby can remove it before he drives

I think I can post pics, can't I? Course, I don't have any of the gams at this precise moment but...

During some general conversation with a former GT owner I know, he mentioned some health issues that were bothering him. When I asked about them, he said that he was having some problems with his left knee and right shoulder. When I jokingly commented that maybe he should have bought an A/T instead of a 5-speed, it kind of made him wonder.

Uhhh....nope. Tom said it's not in his system, meaning they've never sold one. He pointed me to the stealership. The stealership wants $54 and it's special order....from Germany...two to three weeks' delivery time.

Any other ideas of sources for this gotta-have-it item before I go the hard route?

Hmmmm....now that you mention it, I am experiencing a little twinge in the right shoulder too. But I thought it was because I tend to sleep on my right side a lot. Now you've got me wondering anew.

You are describing runner's knee, pain around, under knee cap. It could be made worse by our clutch. Besides following the directions to adjust clutch pedal pressure, I would see a physical therapist to address the knees and exercises for same. 40 is a little young for such pain unless you are a long distance runner. You can prolong the inevitible knee replacement with PT, maybe.

Hey Leslie,

I thought hubby had to drive it too? If that's the case a 'bolt-on' option might not work.

When I drive my wife's Mustang for a long time my left knee bothers me sometimes and I realize that I'm resting it on the door and clutching kind of sideways. If I straighten my leg it's fine. I don't think this is your issue though.

I'm guessing everyone here has nailed the cause (leg extension too much). Now I think we have to work on a fix.

I wonder if you could come up with something that can be clamped onto the pedals with wing nuts or something that will not move at all, but will still come out easily to switch drivers.

So you don't think it could just be a temporary injury brought on by heavy use of heretofore unused muscles? I'm not a runner at all. I do walk quite a bit, with commuting into NYC from NJ, but I'd always thought that this kind of pain would set in over a period of years, rather than weeks.
