Thanks again to everyone for all the suggestions, input & help. I've been out of town the past two days & had limited internet access to be able to respond. I do know I need to replace the "Y" connector, I looked previously & mine is gone, but so is my air pump & cats so it wasn't deemed critical. I checked with my "smell" test & there was no fuel odor at the front passenger wheel well. In fact, knowing that connector was gone, I've checked for smell there in the past & have never smelled it there.

On Sunday, it was only in that area I circled. I mean after it was driven you could smell it just walking into the garage(scarey). Never had that to my knowledge which was what caused the concern. After the car sat a while, it was only in the circled area and only with your nose right down on the plenum. I know its an "easy" thing to remove the plenum, but for me I've never had reason to remove one. So like most things in the 928 learning curve, the first time I'll be apprehensive without prior experience in doing so. Of course, I know there's info available to help guide the way.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to replace the fuel lines, the pulsation dampner(is that a regulator?), and the O rings on the injectors. I've replaced the injectors on my 1988 Jeep Cherokee before, that was basic. I thought I read somewhere once that the Cherokee's injectors were similar to the 928s? If so thats a bit of odd trivia.

Jump the fuel pump relay, preferably have a friend do it while you study the fuel lines, the source should become obvious fairly quickly.

If you smoke, now might be a good time to stop...

Several said replace lines. Just want to call attention to second "U" shaped hose w/o fitting, just clamps, at firewall. IIRC it connects to fuel cooler on my '85. Mine was severely cracked while the other fitted one(s) (front and back of rails) looked OK. Don't miss this one.

I did the same thing with my '88 comanche. You're right Mel, that was an easy project. Made me feel like a real technician. One injector was leaking profusely. Scary thing to smell on a hot engine. G

ok, its all back together.... AND IT RUNS! WOO HOO!!

Super big thanks to CeeDee for driving six hours round trip to come help me get everything all back together yesterday so I can drive it down to Sebring! And holding our breath it cranked right up the first try!

Ended up replacing both rear fuel lines; heater valve & hose; all vacuum line connectors, intake gasket & a t-fitting; having the injectors R&R'd; and powdercoated the intakes. Total cost was around $700+/-.
