Default First surprise for 2007 from my S4

I have been looking forward to the holidays so i can do some work on my 89 s4. So to celebrate the first day of 07 I replaced the fuel line that loops under the MAF. Purely a preventative job but one i have been wanting to do. I took lots of care not to spill fuel but inevitably a bit dribbled out here and there so while i was waiting for it to evaporate i decided i would replace the angled boot on the brown temp sender and fresh up the heat shrink which was very tatty, i did that and it looks much improved. I also checked out the 7 way vacuum splitter as i have a slightly hard shift when off throttle and suspect a leak there. I had previously tested the dampers etc and they seemed fine but I could not get the line to the AT to hold vacuum so am planning a session underneath to try and find the leak. I took the car out for a good thrash and found the shifting was much worse. I suspect that the splitter has gone hard and me playing with it as caused some leaks, no problem, i'll order a new splitter and try to patch it in the mean-time. I went to see if i could fix the leak and I noticed gas coming from the splitter and took me all of one minute to identify the front damper as the culprit. So thanks Portia, thats $150 bucks I did not plan to spend today and what with the holiday season and expected shipping delays that means the car is off the road for the rest of my break and probably most of January.

Get a used one and have it shipped overnight.............fix the prob and drive.

I have a reasonable healthy car that wont move for +3 months ...............weather related issues.

Prepare for many more until it is all sorted out. Took me two years and lots of $$ before I felt confident in mine. I have had no trouble now for three years so I am sure I am due.

The cheapest part you can buy to make a 928 reliable, is another car.
