Looked at this idea a few years ago for my other car and read all kinds of warnings about high temperatures in stock housings. The install pics above looked great, but is there a chance the bulbs will get too hot for the foam/plastic?
I run 100/80 halogens with no problem. Our lamp housings are metal and glass and pretty large, at least on S4. And there is a lot of air between the lamp housing and the plastic pod.

I have the seperate hi/low beam on my Benz. They are the bi xenon type, with two xenon lamps installed into an H4 base.
Low beam is great, but Hi beam is weak. The brightness is fine, but the pattern is pretty bad. Maybe this is just a trait of the Bosch H4 unit that the Benz uses, that it doesn't like the position of the hi beam lamp or something.
US lenses (with DOT aiming nipples) or Euro lenses? Big difference.
