My first Porsche
What did I get for Christmas?
The car I've been wanting since high school in the early 80's!
My husband bought me a 1978 928 5-spd. Chasis #148. We flew down to Sacramento yesterday and drove it 600 miles back home - we were home by 10:30p.m.
Darned if I wasn't the one to get pulled over! I had the last 300 miles which left me driving in Oregon - pretty tight on their speeding laws. I didn't get a ticket, though.
In true Porsche style (or so I hear) my dash lights didn't work (and still don't after replacing the fuse today - the lighter now works so I know the contacts are good) - anyway the state officer thought that was, indeed, a good reason to be exceeding the speed limit.
It's great to finally have the car of my dreams and it's a lot of fun to soak the stuck and moldy pages of the owner's manual open in effort to gather information on the beast.
