L/100KM gauge
#31
I took out my cluster today. Turns out the l/100km gauge has a little circuit board attached to it to calculate the right consumption based on its inputs. My original tacho has a much smaller board.
I first checked if it was functioning by installing the complete donor cluster and it does on my '84. Looks like its values can be correct.
I've mounted the tacho in my own cluster and it is now ready to go back in the car.
(The donor had 260.000km, and the odometer is not turning, so may be even more.)
I discovered a sticker on top of my cluster with the mileage of the car. Seems the cluster was out of the car not too long ago (at 171.554km), it was at 172.000 when I bought it last year.
Not sure if this cluster is still original, all fabrication date tags seem to be correct though, so it may as well be the original.
