Broken shift cable?

Broken shift cable?
Hey all, I think I broke my shift cable. I didn't disconnect the cable when I replaced the torque tube and bent it to hell and I think snapped it. (Dang I'm terrible at working on this car...)
Oh well, maybe someone can help me confirm the diagnosis? 1) See the attached picture? 2) When I'm inside the car while trying to shift I can't move the shifter at all.
Also, if I have to buy a new one should I get a used ($100) or new one ($210)?
Thanks in advance, happy holidays.

The write-up is fine, but item 3 is unneccessarily complicated. Remove the driver side console carpeted panel and you can get to the front and rear levers that hold the shifter cover plate on directly from the underside. Once that is off, you will see the bolts that hold the shifter mechanism down. Once those are out, pull the shifter up and you will see the cable end right here.
Also, I had one instance where after working on the TT, the shifter would not move out of park. The cable was undamaged, but in the process of working on the TT we had jacked the front of it up high into the tunnel and unknowingly contacted and bent up the bottom of the shifter, trapping the cable. That was an easy fix once we exposed the shift mechanism and bent it back into the correct shape. Your cable sheath is broken, but if you jacked the front on the TT up like we did, you may want to check the movement of the shift mechanism at the front when you pull up the shifter.
