I have a 86 but my exhaust looks very different than that. Did they change from 85-86? HMMMM!

Exhaust changed in 86.5 models.
All 85/86 models have the above unit.

Please tell me that the reason you are getting rid of this exhaust, is because you bought one of MArk Robinsons turbo kits.

Fabio,

Check his other thread about a new 2.5 inch setup. It's AWESOME!

Rockoosi,
Does yours face the other way?

Just kidding, mine looks the same, maybe your's isn't OEM?

Okay, now I know yet another difference in my car, it is in fact a 86.5. So is my exhaust the same as a S4?

RDS,

I just pulled one off my 86.5 parts car and the cat back is HEAVY, but you probalby know this. Because of the weight and the size, shipping will be expensive. If you can find someone locally, it would save a headache for you and the buyer.

I think it's the same until it reaches the coupling at the rear muffler. After that the 86.5 has a different rear muffler section than the S4.

One of the few exhaust issues I haven't sorted out yet- does the S4 middle muffler fit under the floorpan of earlier S cars? Wouldn't mind getting a GT center section and 86.5 final...but I should probably quit while I'm ahead as far as OEM stuff goes.

The monster mid-muffler/resonator is the same 86.5-87. These make the car very quiet, even with an RMB.

To fit the giant silencers, they changed the floorpan to the 86.5 style, which the S4 inherits. This included the bolt-on aluminum toe arm mount.

The true dual system on the point five should be worth a few HP on the top?
...

BTW: I'm tired of typing .5 for everything. I say 86.0 should be called 85.5; 86 will always mean euro 86, and US >0999!

RDS928S,
Hi, I've been reading Rennlist for a while now, and hadn't yet replied, but this prompts me. I have an '80 928S Euro 5-speed that I'm restoring, and need an exhaust system. Mine looks just like that. I've been debating going after-market, or getting an OEM. Do you or anyone else know if it will fit on an '80 Euro? (Let me say that you guys are great for information, thanks to all!)
Rick
