Thanks Rich. That looks almost exactly like what I have been visualizing for myself. I have an Ott X-pipe and a magnaflow #14356 4x9x18 body. I just measured and it won't fit back there where the bathtub is . I guess the 14386 with the ends cut is the way to go. It looks great. Is it raspy at all?

Nope. Raspy is what I had. This sounds nice. Similar to the Lambo or Ferrari V-8's. It's just to loud for daily driving. The hi-flow cats will take care of that once installled.

It would be stupid to pay $900 for all show and no go.

Louis Ott and several others have demonstrated significant gains by increasing exhaust diameter to 2.5" on the dyno for a stock 32v motor.

"The stock dual rear exhaust can be replaced by dual 2.5" pipes for an additional 12 to 15 hp. Click here for a picture of a complete exhaust system with Ott (V2) pipe, high flow cats, and 2.5" rear exhaust"

I am printing out some of the picts to take to a local shop, just not the $900 part.

Couple of questions.

Passenger side as it crosses over to the muffler, looks like it doesn't go behind the differential, but kind of below it?

Rear muffler entry is down a bit from the bathtub muffler, so the rear muffler extends below the normal spot, kind of half in, half out?

The X looks nicely done. The X made my car too loud even with the cats, in this case, Random Technology cats. I had to put the stock rear muffler back on in place of the RMB. The X-pipe and cats replaced the stock H and cats. I like a loud car, but it was simply too annoying even cruising at partial throttle, as I do on occasion.

Is that a good location for the O2 sensor?

Does the $900 include the x-pipe, or is it just from the x-pipe back?

I wish!.
The x-pipe is from Motorsports (Dave Lomas) around $480.00 for the ceramic coated unit.

For price reference: Borla 2.25" single exhaust for 16V cars sells for $760.00.
So a custom fabricated 2.50" dual unit that fits the first time including heat shielding for an extra $140.00 seems trivial to me.

I can't see just doing a cat back though, the cat is the major restriction, and if you change exhaust manifolds to 85/86 or headers the fit changes, so semi custom looks like the best route to me. Use as much of a standard exhaust "kit" as you can, but don't be afraid of some welding.

Magnaflow has some new spun metal cats that look really appealing too, 59950.

Borla has increased the price, seldom ever makes them , only makes a few when they do, and contrary to what they think it does NOT fit a 78 Porsche 928...and does fit USA 83-84. We have had so much difficulty getting Borla's that we have found an alternative source for a high quality stainless performance exhaust the prototype is complete and will soon be in production. Pricing has yet to be finalized. More news at 11:00
