In my quest to track down a short, I need to remove the door panel lights. I've looked for a tip on this, but can only find 87 and later, which appears to be a different assembly.
On my 86.5, there is a slot on the edge of the light where it looks like you can insert a flathead screwdriverto pry it off. Before I apply too much pressure, is that correct?
Thanks,
Matt

A screwdriver can be used to lever the spring forward and pop out the light. If you pry from the wrong end you risk breaking off some plastic nubs that serve to hold that end in. Don't ask me how I know. Anyway, I used a little epoxy to rebuild the busted nubs.

Thanks for the help. I don't know which light was causing the drain, but I cleaned the contacts and ground points on all four interior lights and that took care of the problem.
Next up while I wait for the parts to finish the TB/WP is to remove the alarm.

The red warning light at the aft of the door frame is a possibility. Condensation inside the door causes those to corrode, while the rest of the guts of the door looks new.
