Cheap smoke machine
Anybody know a source for a inexpensive hobby style smoke machine?
A friend has a expensive Snap On unit I have used in the past but would like to have one for my own use. If you haven't seen one of these used on a 911 or 928 you have missed a interesting diagnostic tool.
I have searched the web to no avail. Seems like it could be a saleable product if it could be made cheaply enough. Parts would be a heater of some sort, a chamber, a pressure device to limit output to 3 to 5 lbs or so, a couple of hoses. Put the output in the intake, turn it on and any FI vacuum leak shows itself.

My wife used to share an office with a smoke machine, but didn't keep track of her after her new job.
They use those to test home furnaces for leaks, that might be a place to start looking.

Here's the only refernce I could find to it, but there was a thread with pics. Can't find it now.

Look in the plumbing or gas appliance hardware sections of your local ******* store; seen them used for air leak detection, as in windows as well as air circulation..........HVAC type apps.

Anyone know what the party fog machines burn?

Couple hundred Watt heater heating up some fluid to make lots of fog.
Like 'em good ole toy trains that make smoke from waaaay back.
Attach some flexible hose like vacuum cleaner hoses and direct fog/smoke where you want.
Not sure if the smoke is safe for engine bay use though.
It's cheeep.

Beekepers use small burlap burning smoke pumps. I'm not sure if it would work on an engine.

Fog machines used to boil water and pass it over dry ice, but new ones are closer to a ultrasonic humidifier and run on some kind of gunk water so the tiny bits of water stay in the air longer.
Just change all the hoses and stop playing around.
