The 79 has been back on the road for a week today. The valve guides had been installed incorrectly on the 1-4 cylinder head. The machine shop changed the valve guides again on both heads even though only one side was installed incorrectly (height). At first the machine shop owner said "it's been over 12 months, so no warranty". I immediately countered with maybe so, but's it's only been run 7K miles since the heads were done. He agreed to re-do both heads for only the cost of parts. It runs very quiet, smooth and pulls hard when opened up.
Thanks, to everyone for giving me hope when I was ready to throw in the towel. Special Thanks to Jim B.
