Default GTG MD/N.Va/DC/anywhere: December 9th

The DC locals are holding a GTG on Saturday, Dec. 9th (noon - 4PM). Matt Friedman (Mattman928) has graciously offered to host this event at his house in Falls Church, VA (address provided below). Everyone is welcome (i.e., PA, DE, NY, NJ, etc.). We're thinking everyone can pitch in for some pizza, beer, etc., at Matt's.

In addition to being the last GTG for 2006, we will be sending Bill Grabner (Bgrabner) off to the "left" coast. He seems to travel to the West often for business. Wouldn't it be ironic if he started to have to travel more to the East now? Anyway, you can talk to him about it more next Saturday.

I don't know if Matt is a television repair man, but he says, "he's got this ultimate set of tools," and a big garage. Anyone that has a small (done in time to close down by 4pm and no chance of being stranded) 928 project that wants to use our collective lack of expertise for a mini tech session is welcome to make suggestions in this thread.

So make plans for next Saturday at Matt's. Hope to see you there.

Saturday, Dec. 9th
noon-4pm
6203B Waterway Drive
Falls Church, VA 22044

Hey John,

I'm going to try to make one of the ones after the first of the year.

The 9th is the 'World Wide TB/WP party' (if it happens) and I'll be doing mine at the time you guys are meeting. If you have internet access in that garage, maybe you can help me out if I get stuck?

Either way, maybe you can log in and watch the show they'll be putting on out west. I think they're going to try to webcam like 6 cars at once out there. It sounds like national 'fix your shark' day!

BTW- Thanks for the loan of the tool, I hope to be done with it by Sunday!

Hey Mike, good luck on Saturday. I am not the most capable person around and I got it done. Just takes patience to get through the frustrating moments.

Look forward to meeting you soon.

I forget what the thread was called, but watch for something that's scheduled for December 9th/10th about a TB/WP party. I think Bill Ball is going to be doing several cars including an alternator swap for Nicole. They were checking into the logisitics of webcamming it and I was going to try to webcam mine from here.

We may be doing an S4 tune-up for a mini tech session (i.e., plugs, wires, caps, rotors, and T-belt tension check). Depends on the presence of the prospective candidate we have in mind. Would be good to see everyone's little tricks.

Bummer I won't make this one either. Would have been fun to meet everyone again over the holidays and getting out for a P-Car drive.

If anyone is up for watching and or learning how to buff out a car I will be buffing mine some time between Christmas and new years in the Leesburg area.

I should be able to make this one. And BTW... I'll poney up to do a TB tension check on an S4. Maybe I can get everyone's ears involved in helping me find the source of my disturbing squeaking noise.

Fixed a coolant leak this weekend... another great day for the wizard of epoxy! I'll be looking toward doing a complete brake "make over" soon - new cast hole rotors, pads, etc.

Is "Duct tape a euphemism for radiator or water pump?

It's actually a euphemisim for p/n 928.106.443.02 - Adapter Breather.

It's the plastic threaded fitting on the top driver's side of the radiator where the overflow hose connects. The part broke off in the housing. I'll need a screw extratractor to get the bottom threaded part out. The pressure on it is not very high and it fits in pretty tight as it is... but it does leak somewhat when pressurized. I only have a 5 mile commute and I ordered the part from 928 Specialists, its a whopping $3.19 Just the slightest pressure on top of the hose and it doesn't leak whatsoever. Soooo.. I'll put duct tape a.k.a 200mph tape, a.k.a. racer's tape over it to hold it down.
