Wheels rubbing on the inside - need advice
Well ****! Need some advice here.
If you will recall in my thread about the new shoes "Finally getting some new shoes!" I just got some Carrera III wheels for my GT.
Fronts: 8x18ET57
Rears: 11x18ET51
I finally got around to trying one of the rears. I'm very happy that it looks like I don't have to roll/flare the rears at all, but it is tight! The issue is the inside - it's rubbing on the fender liner, but not too much.
So here's my dilema. I don't see anyway to pull the liner in any further, so do I let it wear in, or do I cut the offending section out?
Pics.

Another thought is to get a very thin spacer 5mm-10mm and then flare the fender just a bit.

Andrew,
Wow that's tight. Are you sure you don't have to roll the fenders at all? If it's that tight with the shocks at normal ride height, it's got to slam when you hit a bump, no?

To be truthful, I have bot drive it with the wheels on, but pushing down on the rear corner suggests that they don't rub. That said, I think it would be safer to have a bit more room just in case.

Can you take the fendre liners out? Some of the early 928s never had rear fender liners. Withlout it you might be OK.
I can see that you are going "wider" for traction. Should consider the aspect ratio too. You need some to maintian traction, otherwise the width makes no difference.
