I love 928 Specialists, but they don't sell an X-pipe.

I've had an order in for one of those for just shy of 8 months. Still no crossover, and no updates unless I bug Jeannie, which I haven't done since August. (They have not, of course, charged me yet, and they will check to make sure I still want the widget before they do.)

928 Specialists may in the future begin "selling" these again, but meanwhile "advertising" an X-pipe is not the same as "selling" it. For now, I'd call the 928 Specialists crossovers vaporware.

If I needed an X-pipe in the foreseeable future 928 Specialists would not be on my list of suppliers. Fortunately, I'm in no hurry.

Woody offered me a great deal on his old x-pipe from Louie Ott and I can't wait to install it. So I won't be buying a new one.

Which company now makes that particular design? Didn't someone take over and produces them?

Last is there a significant performance difference on the different designs? Any comparisons?

I don't understand what happened to the 928 Specialists' X. I thought they had a bunch made. The Motorsports one is based on the Ott design. The one I have from DEVEK seems very similar and produced outstanding results for me, linked below. Some of the aspects of the design that appear important are the angle and contruction of the crossover point, with Ott's and DEVEK's being a narrow angle rather than a 90 degree intersection and with a certain section area to the joint. Also, the pipe transitions and diameters at various points and the way the cats are integrated. I'm not trying to say I technically understand any of this, but these are some of the differences among various crossover sources. Louis discusses some of this on his website.

The X I have was designed and manufactured by Dave Lomas and team in Motorsport Utah which is now being sold through Carl and his company 928 Motorsports.

I also am a big fan of 928 Specialists but the wait time for this product got too long. I believe their S/C is on the same long and winding road.

Dave, any idea how your x-over works with equal-length headers?

would this work as a high flow cat option to weld on my incoming x-pipes? sounds almost too cheap to be true...

Dave, thanks for the info...uh, I'll get back to ya on footing the bill... I will be building an x for the headers that I have, and I will try and get some dyno #'s before and after. My car is an 85, stock engine. Made 266 rwhp on a Dynojet at Devek days a few years back, so I have some baseline # to start with.

The proper place for a crossover with the long primaries of headers could be well rearward of where they seem to work with stock headers. Since the pipe between the headers and where a crossover starts is effectively the secondary pipe length of the system, it could like to be 20 or so inches of collector diameter before the crossover. It would be nice to do dyno runs with various collector lengths and see what happens.
