Default Lube for rubber suspension bushings

I am replacing most of the rear suspension bushings. The WSM calls for an obsolete lube. I don't have the WSM in front of me and can't remember the exact name, but I recall it being described as "wax-free". I understand not to use pertoleum-based lubes. I searched the Web for "rubber bushing lubricant" and couldn't find much other than Monroe saying to use a silicone-based or tire lubricant on suspension bushings.

Any other suggestions?

How about the lube used for brake sliders.

Bill,

Are the new bushings rubber? Because the ones I just got for the a-arms from 928 motorsports are urethane and I think you can use petroleum based lubes on them, no?

I wonder about this - silicone grease "when petroleum grease is not desirable."

Hey Bill, Dow 111 is what we use, it's silicone based and safe for rubber. It's main use is for O-ring lubricant but it works well for any rubber application. Well, almost any rubber application that is...

Looking around for the lube, I found it for sale for about $5 an ounce, then I found this....
BORG WARNER CT543 Silicone Grease: 1 pound for $0.36.
Sure.

But then here's another for $1.59 a pound.

Oh, that's the shipping weight. The latter one looks like 1/2 ounce. Still, not bad.

Silicone grease is what I think heatsink compound is made out of or from. Let us know how it turns out.

Right, I saw some silicone heatsink compound/grease, but some have silver or some other stuff in them. I think the plumber's silicone grease with no petroleum is probably fine.

Out of curiosity, what does normal grease do to rubber? Eat away at it, weaken it, cause it to lose elasticity?

How about molybdenum grease?
