Default 3rd Annual Motor4Toys Charitable Exotic Car Show this Sunday, December 3rd...

To all So Cal 928 owners:

Okay People!!! This is a charity event. Ultimately, something that will make you feel good at the end of the day.

You will undoubtedly help to put smiles on the faces of less fortunate children this year.

Along with it, a chance to show off your car (in any condition or state - it doesn't matter), say hello and hang with fellow 928ers, see some amazing exotic, rare, and classic cars, and a chance to win a prize from the raffle contest (one ticket for each gift you bring). If you cannot stay to the very end and have to leave early, by all means, feel free.

Simply bring a minimum of one unopened, un-gift-wrapped toy of at least $10.00 in value.

Our plan is to meet at the Village Coffee Roaster parking lot sometime between 7:00 and 7:30am and then cruise over to the event to arrive a little before 8:00am. It's 10.4 miles from VCR to the Countrywide parking lot (about 11 minutes), so we should leave no later than 7:45am from VCR.

Don't forget to download and sign the waiver for entrance to the event. You can download it here:

http://www.motor4toys.com/2006/images/m4t2006waiver.pdf

Village Coffee Roaster:

23351 Mulholland Drive, Woodland Hills, CA 91364

Countrywide:

31303 Agoura Road, Westlake Village, CA 91361

For more info, go to http://www.motor4toys.com/ or http://www.motor4toys.com/2006/info.htm

I hope to see a huge response to this...

Joe, I'll be arriving at VCR about 7:15am and wait until 7:30. I've planned on spending all Saturday cleaning up the shark for the event. Last year I won a free day at the go cart driving school in Camarillo. It was a $350.00 value. I hope that other 928s are going to join us See you Sunday

Hey guys...how have you been? Sorry to see the usual non participation of the US's largest collection of 928's. I no longer have those headaches from banging my head against the wall and trying to get the owners out of the house. I know first hand how frustrating and disappointing it is! You can bet if I was still there, I would be right there with you.

I hate to say it, but even in the heavy rains up here, there are more 928'ers that show up to a get together at the drop of a hat than I ever encountered with the southern guys...as I said, I really HATE to say that, but its the truth!

You other so Cal guys down there not attending these things should be ashamed of yourselves. You have great weather all year round, get free advice from a great group of folks and the largest annual shark event in the nation and you still don't come out to support each other or attend an event that goes beyond the car itself. A 928 owner is(should be) a "car guy" and this is one of MANY events that you have a chance to see and chat with/about some of the world greatest cars. Cars folks never get to see in person in a life time.

Sorry to rag, but it certainly seems like the 928 guys down there are the weakest of the hgiher end cars, to get together in the land of cars and clubs. I never did understand this.

Well Larry and Joe, I am sure you will get at least 1 or 2 more of the usual attendees out of the 200+ locals down there. Take some pics and post back to this thread to show(ONCE AGAIN) how good of a time these bozo's missed...and for a GREAT cause to boot!

I was going to meet up with a 911 crowd but that has changed. I would be willing to caravan up there. Is anyone from the O.C planning on attending? Last year was awesome. Keith, your posts sure have been negative lately...thats not the Keith I remember. There actually were three 928's at the last gathering at the new Coffee and cars meet last Saturday. Just because people don't respond to a thread doesn't mean there won't be attendee's.

Usual suspects will be there. There's a 50-50 chance I'll be able to attend. I'm not sure there won't be others in the same situation. As Keith is surely aware, there are more than a few other things that demand attention. SoCal is blessed with great weather, and it's a wonderful place to own a nice car. But that also means that it's a wonderful place to do more than dozens of other things. Serious competition for time.

Many of us share an enthusiasm for the cars and even more for the people. Some don't have the rabid, all-focused devotion to the 928, be that good or bad. Enthusiasm needs to be metered sometimes so that all causes get a fair share. I'm out toy shopping this week for half a dozen kids whose names were drawn through a church function. Is that as good as one toy to the car event? Car event will consume 3-4 hours of time that has been committed to house and tree decorating on Sunday. Holiday party season is on us, and there are at least three scheduled for the house already this year. Plus there's the parade and football game thing. There are three proposals to finish for last-minute work projects that need to be done and billed by the end of the year. Gotta be able to pay for those toys, including the 928. Seems like 50-50 is pretty good odds, considering the competition.

Don't try to berate folks because they have enthusiasm for more thngs than you do. Please. I'm not embarassed that I have a life outside of the 928 world.

Keith, What you need is a shot of Socal sun and you'll be OK. I've lived in both areas, Oregon and So Cal and things seem a bit faster paced down here. As much as most 928 owners would like to participate in activities down here, it's often difficult. Everyone has their own priorities...their families, friends, whatever.... I love my cars, but they're certainly not the center of my universe. I'll take hanging out with my son over a car gathering any day. If this makes me a bozo...so be it!

Oscar.......Are you and your son going to join us

Keith......Thanks for the pep talk. I know that you and Jen would be one of the first to arrive and last to leave. We really miss the participation of the both of you. Sounds like you're happy up there, and that is the most important thing.

Bob.......I would be nice to see you and your black beauty. But unknown to many that posters on this board, you have lots of obligations this time of the season, and your always there in spirit. Hope you can make it.

Ron......If you need a caravan to come up, hell, I drive part way down and meet you and we can caravan up

I love the gathering of all the exotics, and the rumble of the engines, but what I want to stress is that it is for the most worthy of causes, toys for children that would other wise go without if not for the generosity of events like this one. Even if you just come down for an hour or two, drop of toys, I thnk you'll feel better.

Don't forget to download the waiver

My posts are no more negative than ever. It is just of late that there have been posts that require realistic interjection.

I would say, yea, you guys are correct, but in this case, you are not. You can make excuses all you want. The facts still remain. I was in the middle of the thing for years and the turnout was always the same. Bare in mind that it is the 928 capital of the US. I can tell you that my life was full down there...and even more time constrained now and I have made 3 or 4 get togethers up here already.

I would expect a few would be offended by the "bozo" (meaning-missing out) comment as it was a blanket one. But lets face it, (Bob) this has been a topic of disappointment for a long time, so let's not take sides here. I am pointing out facts, with personal flare Shall I point out all of the posts in the past from you guys (including this one) about the lack of involvement? Seems folks always have some excuse other than a valid one as to why they don't attend these things. Lord KNOWS there are enough of them so that one CAN attend one once in a while. Very few do.

So to each his own. It is apparent that the interest level down there is not enough to get folks to actually bring their family or friends to these events....so that excuse won't work either. Understand, I am not saying 100's need to show...and to every get together, but the same core guys and a straggler or two is about it. Poor results for such a large collection of cars.

An ONCE AGAIN, I didn't write the book, just reading it. (with personal flare )

Flame away!

Nobody should take it personal if a real world face to face meeting doesn't get a high turnout from an online community. I look forward to meeting more of the local 928 owners. I look more forward to clearing a space in my garage so its not parked in the driveway.

My bet is a few other people are just like me with every day between now and the middle of jan 2007 already spoken for. I am planning on Sharktoberfest.

Keith,

What's with all the fuzz? Listen, everyone knows the level of your involvement in organizing events while you were here....it truly was appreciated. Dan and others continue the tradition in your absence and I speak for myself in saying I'm thankfull for that. I can certaily understand your frustration when the number of attendees to a particular event was low. Now, as far as people making excuses or whatever, hey, if they can attend...great! If not, that's OK too.... those that were able to attend can post some pictures for them to enjoy and perhaps they can make the next one. But seriously, I personally don't see the need to refer to people as bozos regardless of reasoning simply because they had other plans or whatever their reason was. This is their business!

At any rate, I hope things are great for you in Oregon. There's a bunch of great guys up there who meet regularly for go cart racing, import night at the track, dyno testing, etc..

Excuse me......Please let's not let this thread become something other than what it is . There is a gathering of exotic cars in Calabasas on Sunday, December 3rd, and the purpose is to collect toys for the less privilaged children of our community. The focus is on the children and not on any individual. It is always nice to see a bunch of 928 rumbling down the highway, so if you can make it that would be great, and if you have other commitments, then so be it.

You're right Larry....I apologize for adding to the distraction. Anyone else south of Temecula going? The 928 will need to attend ticking lifters and all...

Yea..so read the first post..that is what I was responding to. (Whoops! 3rd post)

Oscar...you point is understood. However, you need to apply those thoughts to 200-300 928 owners in your area. The excuses don't even come into play. My point is, most 928 owners down there just aren't interested in coming out and attending these things (period). It is then hard to understand why they own the cars then and the weather is great all year 'round. Your average guy doesn't own a 928. You see what I mean? It just makes no sense.

Anyway, it doesn't matter what I say, who ever goes to the toy drive, have a fun time, make some less fortunate lives better and post some pics after.
