1986 928 7.5K
Any thoughts on the follow I may purchase:
1986 blk/red 5 spd, 128K (odo broke records show this is pretty close to actual)
issues: dash pulling away at vents, glove box warped, slight clutch chatter, paint on pass fender spiderweb-ed.
WP/TB done in last 5K
Clutch chatter worries me, however car appears to be solid, should have PPI info later today...
Seller wants 7.5K
Any comments?
Thanks

Is it an 86.5? If so it may be worth $6-7K depending on overall condition.
With what you have mentioned $5-6K.
If not an 86.5 it would be less.

FWIW - an 86.5 black / black 5-speed with about the same mileage in perfect condition sold for $14.5k up here last year.
Duel disc clutch is prone to chattering. Could just be an adjustment issue. My 81 chatters every now and then if I launch it at a low rpm in reverse.

Yes it is a '86.5 with a vin ending in 2428. It was listed at $9k for some time so maybe he is finally trying to move the sale by lowering his price.
Clutch chatter on these, could be the adjustment being wrong as they still have the early twin disc clutchs in '86.

OK Now with the pictures it looks better than I imagined.
Could be worth the 7.5k if everthing pans out.
Sounds like someone may know the car on this list.
Shane,
Do you have any other info for Frank?

Not worth the money unless you are able to source out a very cheap flywheel.

If the clutch arm (release lever) is missing the upper plastic ball cup bushing, which it probably is (wears out), then it will have some play in it and can rattle. IIRC, you can sort of feel a shudder in the clutch pedal too. This is very common.
Don't let that stop you from buying it . When it comes down to it, the clutch is pretty easy to work on.
