Tom,

I'm too old to die young. Sorry.

Interesting thread. I realize I'm way behind in jumping in, but oh well.

For what it's worth, you don't cover a mile in less than 3 seconds at 170 mph. At 180 mph, you cover 3 miles per minute or 1 mile in 20 seconds.

That being said, I have gone 155 in mine for a short distance, once. I have gone 140+ several times, and the car feels real solid and steady but I still don't enjoy it for very long. 120ish is comfortable until I get near other cars. The car has a much higher speed than I do. I would cruise at 100 all day long if I could.

Great thread! I love my V1 too.

Yeah Barry I could tell by the way you roared past Tom and I as we were leaving LA.

Oh. You should have seen the mustangs later. That was the last day I went 140+. Except for Sunday afternoon.

I can't get away with anything anymore.

Actually 170 mph is 21.17647059 seconds per mile. Still pretty fast for your navigator to catch the mile posts and compare it to the route sheet.

If anyone passed Shane, it was simply because he let them. He tries to be kind and spare feelings.

BMEP...BMEP...blows head gaskets, nitorus, turbo, na, what ever.

A good combination of well designed engine, a 2.2 gearbox and "tall" tires will put a 928 220 mph within a reasonable rpm.

cheers,
Marc
