Default Cool-Amp and Conducto-Lube

I remember this stuff from years ago with switches I was using, anybody here familiar with it, web site is a bit tired, but it just may be that its a small company and not very online oriented.

Cool-Amp and Conducto-Lube for High Amperage Connections: Two silver-based products enjoying successful uses for 60 years!

Cool-Amp #1233-500 is a silver plating powder designed for use on bolted parts. It silver plates copper, brass, or bronze, protecting the surface and helping with conductivity.

Conducto-Lube #240-200 is a pure silver lubricant. It is intended for use on switches and moveable parts where conductivity is desired.

I don't follow you, are you comparing a product used in the power industry since WWII with snake oil like funny sparkplugs?

It may have no automotive application whatsoever, but with all the contact resistance issues in a 928 it seemed like something worth mentioning. Some kind of silicone contact grease should be of use.

If their products are crafted with the same attention to detail & quality as their website, I wouldn't use them for a doorstop.

My guess is that they got talked into a web site some time in the past, and it doesn't mesh with their commercial power customer base a bit, so it was left to rot. I don't think they have any interest in consumers as customers either, but that doesn't change the nature of the product or whether it might be useful to us.

Its not like I have some in the back of my van to sell, its just an odd product I know about that might be worth looking into.

They sell a powder and a grease, not exactly a crafted thing.

THese materials are available at electrical supply places. I guess what I'm getting at is, why bother to post a link to a useless web site?

The whole block of info was cut/paste from the Thomas directory, and I had no idea whats wrong with the web page, maybe it was firefox 2 on my end or temporary local problem on theirs.

I would just like to see some long term solutions to the corrosion issues.

This is my solution to corrosion on contacts.

2-1/2 years and no new electrical issues(except power antenna going flakey, but I know that's the antenna unit). Stabilant has proven to be as effective as new after 15+ years in a marine(saltwater) environment. It has at least one advantage over those pastes, it's non-toxic so you don't have to worry about poisoning yourself every time you handle electrical stuff.

Have you had any water exposure since using the stabilant?

Read that thread, and its just not the sort of job I would like to do or pay for twice. Also I was thinking of the coolamp stuff more related to ground points that are less protected from the elements.

Yes, on the jump post, starter, and engine-to-body strap.
