Would driving with 3 quarts of oil freeze the engine?

928International is listing engines for your car @ $1750. You should budget at least another $1000 for things that should be replaced at the same time -- motor mounts, fuel hoses, coolant hoses, belts, green wire, various rubber parts that have not withstood the test of time. Post your city so locals can steer you to a reputable shop(NOT the Porsche dealer -- few can be trusted with your shark) Big O should not have to pay for any of these peripheral parts, but it would be silly to not freshen things up while it's apart.

Did you see the 1986 on ebay they say has a new crate motor from Porsche? With a 5k respray that included painting the bottom half of the rear spoiler red.

About another $1000 to R&R in labor, not a bad total.

Going back threough the posts, I would be inclined to think that the insurance company will total the car. Replacing the engine will exceed the value of the 928.
