I wish i had a dyno of my 82 928 turboed but don't since I bought it last month. I know it's not a 32v but the 9:1 CR would be more favorable for boost. I'm going to shoot for twin T3s - one hanging off each bank or a single T6 series.

Can you post a pic of your '82? Since your 928 is already turboed, it makes it a heck of a lot easier to do upgrade it.

If you start with a stock 928, supercharging is way easier and less expensive.

Everyone on this board knows that a turbo is a lot more efficient. BUT it is also a lot more complex and more expensive.

Sorry, I didn't mean to take the thread OT.

No, it's not turbo... Sorry for the confusion.

I figure 3-4k for parts and fabricaton. I have few Supra friends that wield and fabricate header manifolds, adapters, intercooler pipes, and exhausts for a living.

John, who? Don't know if that's a jab or a joke.

Kinda apples to oranges though posting that dyno chart - from a car designed for a turbo application.
gee no problem. Remember, the original thread starter asked for turbocharger vs supercharger opinions... So, what's the problem?

A car that was designed for a turbo application? Apples to orages? lol. Do you have any clue what that curve would look like with a 4.5 or 5.0L motor? My guess would be move the curve back 1000rpm - talk about low end torque!

The stock engine management on my Supra is 20 years old. There's nothing there in the application that can't be solved with modern EMS in a 928.

Yeah, it's a joke. John Kuhn, whom i think is banned now, used to have some heated debates with the SC crowd on here about the merits of turbocharging. John infact has or had a couple of turbocharged 16 valve 928's and is currently working on a twin turbo S4. I met John at SITM in 2005, seemed like a nice guy, i have no problems with him. But yeah, the comment was meant to be funny.

I see. Do a search on John Kuhn name and you'll find some interesting dyno charts of some of the turbo'd 16V 928s. There are a few out there but the majority of the boosted 928s are supercharged.

I built my SC kit for under $1000 and runs 12s in the quarter. You can beat that value with a turbo setup. Turbos are more efficient but supecharger are cheaper!
