Decode a VIN number please
Bought a couple of cars today and one I beleive at first glance was an 86.5.
The S4 brakes gave it away.
I bought it without a second thought and want to confirm it is indeed an 86.5.
Its sitting in my drive so I hope I got it right.
VIN is WP0JB0924GS861084
Fingers crossed

G..............1986
S..............made in Stuttgart
8............the third digit confirming type, 928
61084..........serial number.
I believe 0998 was the '86 cutoff making 1084 a '86.5

wow - and I was kind of proud of myself for getting your '89 away from you! Now I see you're up to 12 cars
As others have confirmed, you do indeed have an 86.5.

What are the others of the couple of cars you bought? Just curious...
Looking at your signature, you still don't have 78 and 79. You also still need an 81, 84, 85, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 94 and 95 to be complete. Oh, and a US and Euro model for each year... each with automatic and manual transmission.

The 86.5 is a Black on Black (dare I say it) 5 speed. I also bought another 86.5 with some rear end damage and may be able to get one good one out of it.
Just picked up an 83 Euro with some body damage. Its a 5 speed as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want the engine and gearbox plus some other goodies - definitly a parts car.
Nicole,
Don't worry I'm working on the 78 as we speak.
Thanks to all for confirming my VIN.
