Do early 928's (81 USA) have electric trunk release?
I seem to have what looks a motorized system to unlock trunk, but I'll be damned I can find the switch? What's the story anyone....

I'm not sure about the configuration of your particular model.
If you have the switches, they are to the left of the driver sseat next to the parking brake, and to the right of the passenger seat. You have to pull them up to engage the trunk release.

What you are seeing is probably the motor for the rear wiper. The motor drives the wiper via a kidney shaped cam which is visible when you open the hatch.
The rear hatch release starts in '83, IIRC.

I've wondered that as well. There is ****, or a place where a **** should be, next to my parking brake. The **** is missing on my car and I wasn't sure what **** should go in its place. I always thought it was a fader **** for the rear speakers. I came to the conclusion that my car does not have a hatch release. I assumed the contraption in the back was for the alarm.

Yes, I would be surprised, if the81 already had the power trunk release. Good to know it was started in 83!
Casey: Your **** was most likely a speaker fader ****.
