Default upper ball joint rebuild

Finally got around to rebuilding the upper ball joints on my 82 with 928 Motorsports rebuild kit. After thoroughly reading the instructions I proceeded with the rebuild. There were times when I thought that all of the pieces would not fit back together. The first one was that the ball would not fit into the new bushing. Hitting the ball with a nylon hammer solved that problem. The second was that the new bushing did not seem to sit low enough in the control arm. Upon compression of all the pieces the bushing became fully seated in the control arm. Just thought that I might mention these few things for the next person rebuilding their ball joints. I realized a final problem once I had everything back together. The control arm on the left side originally had a cracked boot on it. Upon disassembly of the ball joint it was clear that water had gotten into the joint and pitted the ball portion of the joint. I reused this one, but the joint now seems a bit rough in operation compared to the other side. If anyone has a spare control arm I would be interested in it or preferably just the ball portion of the joint. Joe
