This is probably old news, but I hadn't noticed it before. In his speech at this years Porsche Parade in Portland Wolfgang Porsche said "........Volkswagon will also supply the chassis for the new four-seater Panamara sports coupe."

Oh, sure - they will build the bodies and paint them before they are shipped to Leipzig for final assembly. There is no body assembly plant in Leipzig, and the Stuttgart plant is running at max capacity. Which is why VW already makes the Cayenne bodies in the same factory that makes the Touareg.
The Panamera engines will come from Stuttgart, and the transmissions will be German again (not Japanese as in the Cayenne). I would expect some electronics to be shared with the top of the line models from VW (or one of its divisions).
Porsche has already done a lot of engineering with Volkswagen - and now owns more than 20% of VW shares. So why not intensify the cooperation, if the look and feel does not suffer and both benefit from teh savings?
