Smile I'm so excited ( thanks everyone!)

I bought my car (my 6th Porsche) on September 2nd, 2006, 16 years to the day after I bought my 914 1.8 the day before I turned 16. After over two months of jackstand rest, it should be driving any day now.

I've replaced all fluids except diff, rotor, plugs, new vac hoses, new intake boots, updated power steer reservoir, new power steering return and pressure lines, fuel filter, led interior lights, new kenwood stereo and B Quart speakers, ride height adjust (tbd tomorrow), steering wheel and shifter recover, fixed seat and window switches, new shift boot, wheel repainting in progress, interior panel straightening, and carpet reglued to doors. There's more stuff I can't recall now.

I'm sure a lot of you have been through the same thing. It's going to be so nice to drive down Sunset blvd (watch out Enzo's, Gallardo's, and SLR's) Mullholland, and Angeles Crest highway, especially after driving PT cruiser convert rental car ( I could feel my testosterone drop every time I sat in it) a jeep which bounced more than a lowrider at a car show, and an Infiiniti with 150,000 miles.

I want to thank everyone whose comments and knowlege has been so instrumental in this endeavour. I haven't had the facilities to work on my own cars since my '69 911 in 1993., so i was a bit rusty.

Congratulations, and make that first cruise all pleasure and no test. Get used to the car and save the speed for the track, or roads that don't include a 500 ft drop.

Lol,

Thanks, I've had more than enough white knuckle rides on Mullholland with my friend who raced Formula 3000 cars, definitely saving it for the track!

scott863... those are great little drives

but you need to stretch that shark, say
up to I90, over to Montana, down the I15 to Vegas
and San D... you know, a GT run, burn out the gunk,
work out the wrinkles.

Enjoy. Congrats.

G'luck.

All of the unsexy stuff has been done so far, next it will be the stuff that looks good. The car came with choc brown interior, every surface except pod. Since the Orig owner who I bought it from never let kids in it, and babied it, the carpet is amazing, it is still very soft and looks great. The leather has sun damage on the dash and seats, so some parts will get champagned, and the other orig leather that I leave in place will be dyed in Cork (the darker one color code 9something). I think cork leather and brown carpet will look nice. I will do before and afters.

Just wait for the next Porsche day at Willow Springs and bring a spare set of tires you won't mind eating up.
