$19,000 for an 83-86 US? Calling an 85-86 US an S2? Top speed of only 155? Recommending the automatic? The author is obviously a moron.

I just read that article the other day. I have always wanted the 928 (which I recently got) and wouldn't mind the MB CL some day as a daily driver (to replace the truck)....wow, I must be getting old! 47 going on 60!!!

whats the problem with the 155 top speed? I thought that the S2's did 153? When the S4 came out it reduced the drag Cd from .39 to .33 (.36 with radiator flaps open), that plus the 30 extra HP from the S4 and you got the then new top speed of 171.

From what I've read of some European drivers, an S2 tops out at the rev limiter (6200rpm?) in 5th... about 170 mph. I'd think an S3 could get pretty close to that and IIRC is spec'ed by Porsche to get into the 160s.

I just read trough my source. The 153 mph was for a lower geared Euro S with 310HP, comparing it to a 90GT which has the same gear ratio's but a top speed of 171 to 153.

Makes some sense, the US cars i know were geared taller and suffer in acceleration but have a higher potential top speed.

Quoted drag figures are .39 for S cars .34 for S4/GT
