Be careful when trying to pull your hood release after it's been installed, mine broke due to the bra putting pressure on the latch system making the required pull on the latch release to be too much!

Dont. My experience has been that the bra can do more damage than good. Thats probably why you never see them anymore. Well , also cause they take away from the look of the car .
Note: I was nice. I didnt say they were dumb looking.
Dang, I said it!

Bras are just as practical now as they were when they were first developed. They protect the nose of you car from paint chips due to flying rocksand debris from the car in front of you.

The problem being that the bra itself can do some scratching. Also the paint under the bra is not fading with the rest of the car(no sunlight). Not to mention they look dumb. oopps , did it again.

I find that my 928s prefer the extra support offerred by a bra on long trips.

As for the latch: it is adjustable. Adjustit.

And as for dumb looking? Perhaps other cars just don't wear their's as well?

All humor aside: Using a bra on your car - correctly - is a lot of work. Do a search; it's been discussed many times.

The bra shouldn't do any scratching as long as the bra is clean (especially the underside) and the nose and hood are clean and waxed well underneath. Also, the ideal use for a bra (on my car guys!) is for longer road trips. I don't think the bras should be left on any longer than necessary, so you wouldn't have any problems with fading. It definitely helps keep the nose and part of the hood free from rock chips, especially following a group tour through areas with loose gravel, etc.

Clear bras may look better, but cost substantially more, and they have their own issues as well. IMHO, a properly worn bra can look pretty good on well built car like a 928

If you can remove it with one hand, you have mastered it.

Steve,
You mentioned bra and everyone's gotten a little distracted... from your original question...

Anyway, if the bra you got on ebay is manufactrued by Colgan (more than likely), I would make sure it's clean, then lay it out on the car and it will start to make sense how it goes on. You didn't say if it was for your '78 or your '87, not sure exactly how it fits on the earlier cars (probably similar), but on '87 and later cars IIRC, the stetch straps on the hood piece hook into the underside of the hood itself. The upper part of the larger piece clips in the hood opening recess, the rest of it clips around the nose openings. The back side clips around the wheel well and the lower portion straps and clips to the spoiler. This is from memory since I haven't used mine in a while, but I thinks it's pretty close.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. If all else fails, and it is a Colgan bra, you could contact them, www. colgancustom.com and I'd bet they'd send you a copy of the install instructions.
