Now What -Tach and Spedometer not working
Background: '85 32 valve auto, ran briefly last year after purchase but no maintenance history so dove into the TB/WP and it escalated from there. When it did run last year the speedometer and tach both worked (if memory is correct - always an issue it seems).
I finally got things back together after my year long TB/WP job that migrated into a refurbish of the intake system which included powder coating the intake parts, replacing the idle stabilizer, replaced fuel line, replaced vacuum lines, injectors cleaner and tested, rerouted some of the PO's misrouted crankcase vent / vacuum lines, etc. Still have some work to do to get it where I want it but I also wanted to hear the engine run before winter got here.
Engine started once I went through a few cycles of cranking to get the fuel system full and runs pretty good at least to the ear.
Quick test drive and both the tach and the speedometer were stuck in the about the same general area ( 20-30 mph / 2-3000 rpm). Didn't seem to matter what the engine or vehicle speed was.
Given the long duration I am sure anything is possible, but is there a likely source that is common to both that I may have messed up doing this project?
Still checking for leaks, coolant level, etc. but I would like to figure out if I created this latest problem or it just decided it was time to show up. All the dash warning lights appear to work (on with key, off when running).
Any insight would be appreciated.

My speedo cuts out sometimes, and very rarely the tack too. Slight touch on top of the pod and they both jump up and work fine. When I did the odo gear recently I tried to clean up all of the wiring connections in there, but obviously I missed some. Lots of places for corrosion to affect a metal-to-metal connection in there.
I'd recommend taking out the pod, and planning to spend an hour or so just taking everything apart and cleaning all the contacts. Bulb replacement might be wise too, while you're in there.

Thanks for the insight. I need to do the odometer gear job anyway so sounds like I have a few new challenges to add to this particular project.
