I was unable to go see this car, turns out Larry knows this car somewhat.

I will let him post about this car, but i will be somewhat vague in my description of it, but it sounds like a really good buy at the reserve price.

As for any leaks, i have to think most these cars will have leaks, wether it be via the oil pan, the front crank seal or oil pump seal, they require replacement but if thats the biggest issue one can find with a car then your doing very well.

I looked at the car today, and will say that if I had the money, I'd purchase it. It is in great shape, it's a 5 speed, and no matter what it costs to fix the minor oil leak, the buyer is getting a terrific car. It turns out that I know the owner, Tommy, he had been active in SoCal 928 until about a year ago. He has always taken extremely good care of the car, and due to some misfortune, he is having to sell it. Who ever purchases this car is getting a great car that has been treated they way a Porsche should be treated Good luck Tommy.

Feels like a choice one slipping through my fingers, but not a good idea to bid before you have a place to put it. Still setting at $8k, want to bet the last 30 seconds are exciting?

I thought the car ended today but it ends tomorrow. It should meet reserve soon from what i know. If i didnt have my car i would jump at this one.

The seats look a little worse for wear but i wouldnt be suprised if some time, hard work and some leatherique couldnt get those seats to like new condition.

For all you guys out there looking for a cheap S4, here is it, and its a 5 speed!

Shhhhh!

The last 30 seconds as the snipe bids kick in should be exciting, not a round of coronaries.

I couldn't stand to watch, nice car, 45 minutes away, money in the bank, and absolutely no place to put it. Hope it found a nice home.

Wife also may require some serious jewelry before mentioning Porsche doesn't get me the look of doom. Maybe not jewelry, but for sure clearing space in the garage for her car FIRST, is pretty certain.

thats not a very good excuse, a $9000 5 speed S4 is a steal. you may not find one like that at that price for a few years.

If it was no sunroof I would tell my wife some kind of a big nasty spider is in the garage, better stay out for a few days until I do something with it.

Whoever got it, got a great deal, but as a PURELY factual matter plenty of people were aware of the car, and the other bidder stopped at $8500. If it were relisted, chances are good it would not go this high.

I think my chances are very good between now and before nice weather in the spring, to find a deal for a car closer to what I want to end up with. Heres to hoping I figure out what that is soon.

i dont get your fascination with a non sunroof 928. After a certian year i am almost positive its standard equiptment for the us, none of us have option codes for sunroof, so that leads me to believe its standard. People are into those to make 911 RS clones, why do you insist on having a 928 without a sunroof out of curiosity.

That being said, i never use mine, when i have opened it up it seems kinda useless as i dont think you can even stick your head through it as its not wide enough.

I have a nice picture of an s4 without a sunroof they do exist I read in another post that US dealers just wouldn't order the cars without sunroofs. Back in the day these cars were $80,000+ and allot of Porsche owners just buy the car as a status symbol and rarely drive them and don't appreciate them for there performance. How many Cayannes have you seen in 4x4 magazines or coverd in mud from a day out in the woods? There was a nice green s4 without sunroof on Ebay last month in Canada.

yes a canadian market car, like i said at some point it wasnt optional, it was a given that a 928 would have a sunroof. Actually i think that probably went for all porsches, but as such there are sunroof delete options, but good luck finding a good car, thats 1 got no sunroof, 2 is in the color you want, 3 is priced fairly, 4 on and on and on.

I am 6/4 with most of that apparently from the seat up, and I don't like to lay down to drive. <yes I am looking into seats etc.>

Sunroofs were a dealer price packing item, burned me then, still mad 20 years later. The idea that I had no choice but to pay an extra $2k for less headroom infuriated me. I would have walked away from Porsche all together if the 944T hadn't been such a nice car in 86 (steering wheel changed so wife wanted it). I drove a Mark VII until stop and go traffic at a new job started to bother her clutch leg and we traded.

I haven't stopped thinking about a 928, but it hasn't been in very near earth orbit until recently, and I have had hot and cold days since. Thats what middle age is all about isn't it?

What concerns me is that I have owned my share of older cars, keeping a couple I bought new for 15 years, and I know what that maintenance wall you can hit at a certain age can feel like. Where shop costs starts looking a WHOLE lot like a payment on a new car.

Repairs that don't "fix" a problem don't set well with me. Isn't there a way to REALLY fix all the electrical issues on a 928?

************************** Sunroof
This ebay 928 wasn't ever much in my serious consideration. I see many options related to the sunroof, so it really wasn't a deal killer, just a handle to put on other issues. Garage space is a real one, I don't want a red or black car, and I need to think about and drive a few cars before I am ready to make up my mind and place a bid. Easiest to say sunroof ACK!
