We (at least I) don't hate 986's - just pointing out they are totally different automobiles. The Boxster is a fun go-cart, a great car I've considered buying many times over the years. Bottom line is, for a 928 owner it's a 180 driving experience. Not better or worse, just different.

I don't hate them, but when they have over 170,000 miles and it is 8 years old, has non-leather seats, and a color I don't like, I'd rather get something else. And if I was going to get a Boxster, it'd have to be an S.

I love my 986, but it is a different animal from the 928. Most 928 owners enjoy the unique characteristics of the 928(Grand Touring) and own the cars for this reason. There is a feel you get from a top of the line Porsche that is lacking from an entry level Porsche despite the fact that one may be 10 yrs older.
I am larger than average 6'2" 230lbs whereas my wife is only 5'4"110lbs. I've driven to FL from NJ in the 928 and the wife and I arrived completely refreshed. We've also gone for a 2hr cruise in the 986 and BOTH experienced lower back pain before returning home...but the car was a complete blast for that 2hyrs.

I participated in a foliage run this past Sat and knew I would be driving for at least 4hrs. Guess what car I took?

Sorry to hear that Dave, I am 6'4" 225lbs and my wife 5'2" and weight unknown
Yes a 98X is like driving a skate board, but seems like it supports my back very well...

Went on a non stop trip from Cayucos to San Onofre this summer and arrived just fine (7+ hrs)

BTW: I said "Dislike" not "Hate", sorry the Columbo coming out in me....

See it's now NLA.

Do all Boxster owners or potential owners also need new doors and windows?

Shark A, I hate you because opened this thread and you didn't buy it, hehe.

That is a sweet deal, even if it needed the engine replaced

You would have had to change your name to Boxter Attack!! lol (looks like someone just glued an "S" on it anyway)

most would see..."173K mile 98 Boxster" as a glass far less than half full .... plus the Boxster market is being FLOODED with lease returns and is one of the cars most often being offered for early lease buy out /assumption (you can get paid to take over the lease in some cases). It is a car which many opted to "rent" rather than own.

I would say it's more like that last 1/4" in the bottom of the beer you just drank
