Isn't there anybody out there interested in building a stroker motor this winter?

Really just curious, have you found a way to do it for less?

Except for the Motec and TBI setup, I don't know how anyone could do it for less.

If someone wants to offer without the throttle body intake and motec (as would be likely for street use),
Stan, Stan, Stan, Stan, Stan,........

You need to move out here to the Pacific Northwest for awhile......

You will realize the error of your ways of making such wild assumptions about what is appropriate for "street use" on a 928.

Hi Adam,

I wasn't implying they wouldn't be good for street use, nor that some others might want to use them. I am just trying to understand how Ryan is going to do it for less. Do you think it can be done for less?

No effin' way Stan. Geez can it be done at all? I don't seem to recall hearing about another batch order of stroker cranks being submitted anytime soon.
$1K for a bored and honed Alusil block? I had more then that in machining alone, and NOW I get the distinct pleasure of paying another grand to Nikasil over that $1200 worth of boring and honing.

To have all parts together in one place, I think is a rare sight regardless of the cost. Doesn't look to me like this is necessarily a money making venture for you based on your values.

Now, please tell me you found my last post at least a little bit humorous?

I suppose it could be done for less but when you buy one off parts (which these strokers are often 1 of 1 done 20-30 times) its very expensive.

Ive done the math before and i think what parts alone is like $7K and you need additional machining, and it just goes on and on.

What i meant by the post is that i would love to have everything i need, and "assemble" is and have myself a stroker, i however dont look forward to the bill for all the parts, although i think it would be fun to put together. My favorite toy as a kid was Lego's.

Not sure if you are serious Adam but I do have Moldex crank on order. They said 12 weeks which would mean December but I suspect its in here January at earliest. I hope to be able to keep cost down at under $10k. Bore and hone should be $2k in here.

Which rod journal size are you getting? I ordered my Moldex crank 10/5 and they told me 16 weeks, I wonder if they're going to do them together. I have a hunch that we shouldn't hold our collective breath for these.

Folks, if you want to build a big displacement motor just make Stan an offer and you will save yourself immense amounts of time, you could post your dyno results as Vilhuer and I wait for our cranks etc.

I would rather race, than develop a car. So a turn key race car is VERY attractive.
I assume you're going after Don Hanson's car; what a bargain that is! I hope for both of you that you can buy it.

Adam,

I did find your post humerous, and understood your point. In fact if I "find" the money for the racecar purchase and don't sell the stroker motor parts, I suspect they might find their way into my own 928 street car...

Ryan,

Ok, that clears it up a little. My curiousity was high, as I have spent about 3 years accumulating parts and am confident that what I paid for each part was was reasonable or low.

I presume anyone intending to do it under $10k is not going with 968 valve heads, since they are a big expense on their own.

I am just hoping someone sitting on the sidelines watching this and having dreams of a stroker motored 928 will understand this is an opportunity. I would be happy to entertain offers.

The bottom line is if I can sell a couple of 928s and these stroker motor parts I would be close enough in money now to make a committment on the race car.

Swaybar,

Do you know of any other 928 race cars that I would sell my stroker motor parts to buy?

2.1" as it seems rods are much easier to find for it.

I think standard answer is 16 weeks. Fow some reason guy I spoke to said 12. It seemed he didn't know that much about 928 cranks. Spoke earlier with Whitey and he said 14-16 IIRR. Hopefully two orders mean they are done together and I'll get mine little faster than normally. In any case it doesn't make much difference as I don't expect to be driving much next summer anyway. If I get to do test drive and running in late summer 2007 I'm happy. After all, project has been ongoing since 2003. Need to find other $10k+ for local import tax from somewhere anyway before I can get permanent plates for it.

Original plan was to have those but its way too expensive for my taste. Quote for machining was $1k per head and intake valves $30x16. Have to settle for GT cams only.

Since SharkTuner is around nowdays it debatable if Motec is needed or not. All special parts in Stan's list are useful and I don't believe they are available cheaper from anywhere else. Now if he only would sell them individually.
