I just thought I may chime in...I installed a MSnS-II on a xr4ti (Merkur) for about 300 bones. All the wiring was cake, but the initial setup was a nightmare (it has a turbo with 20lbs of boost, so there was all that to contend with). IMHO, the MS option in good for those that are geaky natured and are familar with and comfortable with firmware and such. I think the VEMS option is for those that want a more plug and play approach with just a little tuning...Just my thoughts.

OK, I will grant that MS (or even MSII) does require a certain level of understanding of how EFI works. But all systems do if you are going to exploit the systems capabilities.

Looking over their site, VEMS really doesn't seem any easier to me. (Once again, save for driving COP directly off the board.) But maybe that's just me.

If I were recommending plug-n-play flavor stuff, I'd say SDS.

I am preparing to to install a stand alone on my brothers car ( an 86.5 with an 88 S4 motor) and have been watching MS II for some time as a possible solution. It is my understanding that in order to achieve COP you need to use their router board which is not yet built. Trigger wheel decoding for wheels with higher tooth counts, as in MSnS, is not yet available in MS II either although I understand MSnS for the MS II is under development as well. I wasn't aware the MS II supports knock sensing either. If it is posssible to implement these features with MS II can someone please tell me how? As it stands the VEMS unit is looking very attractive to me as I want to implement this now rather than wait for MS II on what is an understandably open ended time line (development of router board etc).

Mike, is your brothers name Tim?
If so, he already posted to the VEMS Wiki and made his own page, I did put some guidelines there also.

Yes, Tim is my brother. We will probably pull the trigger on a system in the next few days and I would like to be clear on available options to make the best choice for us.

WOW! Glad to see I got some great minds chiming in on my little tuning thread.

Thanks,
