That will show up in "commodity futures" someday.

It might be, if not for the fact it's so unobtainable...

I should probably check Snopes first but... Supposedly the word unobtanium came out of the SR-71 and U-2 programs in reference to titanium. The only large source of titanium back then was the Soviet Union.

My understanding is it started among gearheads in the 70's who had heard of titanium. Doesn't really matter -- other similar words have been coined more recently. For example, the slightly easier to obtain "raritanium"...

One note of caution when ordering multible items through MSC-Direct, make sure you click the box to consolidate your order prior to shipping. The first time I ordered from them (a slew of tools) I got ten seperate boxes through UPS, at something like 32 bucks a box!! It didn't matter if it had a full wrench set or a small swivel for air tools. They have many warehouses and will ship direct from which erver has what you want. Be sure to consolidate.

I have ordered many things from Grainger but my company has an acount.

I order stuff from McMAster. Their place is right in NJ, so I get items delivered in about a day.
Prices are OK, but I like that 90% of their items are stock and reasonable shipping.
