Ithink its just as large as you can make it, without compromising structure, and keeping the vent size in the low pressure area. there is really no downside, as the air would still have to travel under the car, but now it would be coming out of the vent and go over the car. you do have more downforce, which can increase rolling friction, but its worth the trade off. since its not a huge hole, if the downforce was not needed, you could seal the hole on the inside of the hood. i think the main benifit is you can now use the wing for adustments and not just be taking wing angle out to fix a pushy car thus loosing rear grip

its one of those " 50/50" things. you know, looks great at 50mph from 50 feet

basically, i widened the existing carbon fiber splitter by 3" at the corners and extended the overall splitter by 1.5". I did this with the use of aluminum sheet. i did it in 3 parts. sides and middle section. its kind of modeled after the proportions of the ferarri racer splitter in the pictures in this thread.
I also have the splitter rolll into dive planes on the sides.

Thanks.

Just got back from Thunderhill the hood vent and new splitter work great! ran a best time just playing around with all sorts of traffic. It was a SCCA free day for the racers.
2:01.8 with the hill!

should work well for Sears in April. I guess splitters and wings do work!!

My '86 hood has so much bondo on it, the hood shocks won't hold it up when it's cold - so it's gonna get some gofast holes - once I have a replacement.

i got an extra hood shock if you need it, and it sounds like you do! ive been dealing with that for a year now. especailly when its cold. turns out, one of the shocks was completely dead! my hood can old up TWO hood now!
Plus, cutting that cut out on the hood saves about a pound or so.
