Default Todays tune-up (foaled plugs)

The engines in these cars are truly amazing.

I received my new plug wire and bought now spark plugs last Friday and didn’t get a chance to put them in over the weekend so I played hooky today to have some fun working on the '82. Did an oil change, changed the plugs and wire, clean the air filter, cap & rotor, etc.

The reason I'm writing this is that with the condition of plugs 1, 2, and 3 would've made any other engine not perform much less run. I found several of the wires had multiple cracks at the plug ends and #3 wire had corrosion in the socket. I'm thinking that a weak spark got through bad wires and that's how the build up happened and that this wasn't caused by something else.

What do you think?

Those look pretty nasty. So how does it run now?

I hope you didn't put more platinum plugs in it. That looks a lot worse than weak spark. weak spark, you'd have a not of incompletely burned fuel (carbon). They'd be all black. It's hard to tell with all the crud, but the left and right ones look like the ceramic is broken from detonation.

I took it out for a little run to dinner and it ran great, sounds different too. I really didn't get a chance to step on it... yet.

In the morning on the way to work, I'm hoping to get on it a little to see how she'll go. So I'll update then.

Well she runs so much better and really gets up and goes and I thought it was quick before. The only thing now is that there seems to be a vibration at higher revs, I'm hoping that it will smooth out as the crap gets blown out of the cylinders.

No platinums, I've never been a big fan of them. I installed NGK V-Power spark plugs.
