TB tension check at Sharktoberfest?
Wondering if anyone is interested in making a buck or two by checking my TB tension Saturday at Sharktoberfest. I am right at 1,000 mi. and want to get it done. Asking more out of convenience than anything else, planned on taking to Precision but then I have to take a day off work.

I can do it and I certainly wouldn't charge anything for doing it. Let's do it during the lunch period after we eat. I'll bring the requisite tools (Kempf tool, 10mm socket, flat blade screwdriver, small [4mm?] Allen, 27mm socket to turn the crank). Send me a note the Thursday before reminding me to bring the tools.

Bill,
I sure wish you were about 2,000 miles closer.
Although there are many gracious offers of help on this board, from where I sit, you're usually the first (or a close second) to chime in when someone asks for help. The west coast is fortunate to have you, your expertise and your willingness to help...

Macreel: right about the 17mm - I use a Gearwrench - forgot about that. I was going to bring my big bar for the 27. 8mm socket is an alternative for the flat blade for the distributor cap.
Mark: I hope you're talking about the line for lunch, because I'll be there first, and I don't want to miss the tech sessions, so I think one TB tension will be it.

That's possible. Ideally, we'd have a few people with experience at this, such as Dr. Bob, as well, so the information gets good coverage, and one can talk while the other wrenches. On the other hand, and in-the-car demo is not the best for any more than a few people to observe. Anyway, I'd be open to it if Dr. Bob would participate.

If you make it a tach esssion, you need to have an engine out of the car - otherwise people can't see what you're doing.
Maybe you can have one car where you show how to get the fan shroud out, and then continue the demo on the engine that's out.

The problem with an engine out of the car is that it is too easy to check the tension...what people really need to see or at least hear about as Bill does it....are the tricks to doing the TB tension check on the side of a major freeway with traffic right at your side...in the pouring cold rain....and laying in the mud..now that's a real life situation ....not everyone is going to pull their engine to check the tension (well maybe Walt K will)..but not many others
