I'm going through my bucket o' parts in anticipation of my intake R&R on my '90, and am looking at the knock sensors I bought along with the intake refurb kit. They are 928.606.144.00, which the PET lists as for 1991-. PET lists the sensor for up to 1990 as 928.606.141.00. So- did the 144 part just supercede the 141 part, and they're functionally equivalent? I'd hate to get to installing these and discovering that they've got different connectors than those on my '90, or mess up the LH brain and retard the timing severly or something.
Thoughts?

Rob,
Hey Ive got a spare intake and cam covers for you to get painted before you tear yours apart if you want, I of course would want yours once you take them off and switch them. This could save you a week or so if you decide to mail out your parts. Of course if you have it done locally, which you surely can then it would probably only leave you down for 2 days.
If you like let me know the stuff i have is just sitting while i tear down my engine.

Ryan-
Hey, thanks for the offer! The PO actually had the valve covers redone this spring (but not the intake
) and they look pretty good. So I'll probably jsut have the intake done locally. I've got a lead on a place in Costa Mesa that someone on Ferrarichat suggested.
I'm probably going to tear into the intake over the Christmas break, though we've got a kid due in January, so there'll be no rush to get it refinished- I won't be driving much for a while.....

Hi Rob
I'm pretty sure that the change was due to them changing the contact plating from tin/lead to gold. They were trying to make them less likely to corrode.
They must have changed the engine loom at the same time, to change those knock plugs to gold as well.
You're not supposed to mix the two types, but if you apply some contact grease when you assemble, you will be OK.
No danger of frying your EZK :-)

do the later ones fit the earlier cars?
I had my sensors replaced by Devek and they are good but it would be a goof FYI to know if you can use the newer ones.
