Default interior light contact switch for rear hatch?

where is the interior light contact switch for the rear hatch. I noticed my lights are staying on and i played around with the hatch a few times and seems to be the area with the problem, i havent looked around much for the contact switch though, where is it, the switch that would signal when the hatch is open to then turn on the interior lights?

HTML Code:
it is under the receiver part of the latch.
single brown wire connected to it (at least on my OB it is)
On mine it looks a bit like part of an old wire coathanger.
You should be able to access it by just removing the tool box cover

Marton,

Yes its a bit basic isn't it - I like to think of it as an "al fresco" switch. At least you can easily see how it works and relatively easily clean it.

Of course usually when it doesn't work there is just a pile of debris there and then its harder to figure out how it used to work!!

Finally fixed mine after much head scratching. The brass retainer clip had slid upwards towards the receiver and trapped the interior slide so they was not enough play to open the circuit leaving the interior lights on. When removed, the clip slid off completely shooting the slide and spring across the garage. Fortunately found the slide and replaced the spring from an old ball point pen. To add insult to injury, I did the same thing with the glove compartment switch a week earlier. Yikes!

Jackson,

Thanks for the added information on the cleaning, i still havent gotten to this but even with my lights set to "always off" I am getting a drain somewhere and if i dont drive the car for 3+ days i imagine i will have an issue when i go to start the car. I will check under the latch receiver to fix this thing.

Thanks again
