From what I heard I may be wrong - typically, dead LH symptons consists of a quick rapid clicking from the injectors when you start the car. Unless you have some funky alarm system in place, I'd bet the problem is electrical (power or ground) to the LH unit. Like Matt said check for continuity and get out the dremel to polish up the grounds. - Kevin 84 S2

Mike, sorry I missed your question before. swapping the brains just requires pulling them out of your car and plugging them into his. He should make sure the retard loop is plugged in to avoid the chance of major detonation.

Kevin, believe me, I know how frustrating it is. Everything tested fine 90% of the time and made absolutley 10% of the time and there was nothing consistant to cause the change. Mine even gave the stereotypical symptom of a dead LH, as K1woods posted, constant injector firing with the ignition on. It was 3 completely unrelated things in the end, one of which should have never allowed it to run.

Default Junkyard or 85?

I completely forgot to mention that I had also purchased a nice used MAF earlier on. At this point, I have at least two of everything because I had other flooding problems that I had managed to get sorted out on my own back in August. So yes, I can confidently say I have checked or replaced every single thing there is to check, every ground has been removed, polished, replaced, and rechecked, every injector has been checked, reinstalled, rechecked and should be working. Many times previously. And all over again in the past few days. The car is shredded. There is, or should be, NO problem.

In the meantime, the leather seats, already baked from the sun and rock hard (PO issues), are now shredding from all the elbow pressure while I'm digging around under my dashboard, and then the f'n dashboard lights aren't working anymore because I obviously knocked something loose while I was in there that I now have to find.

That's why I'm ready to give up, why I'm considering hurting the car, and why I really just want to send this car to the junkyard. Except my wife won't let me. Yeah, I said it! We have so much money invested between these two dam cars, and I've spent so long (not just these past two months on this Euro, but the past two plus years on the white one's many problems, now wasted) that my wife says she won't let me simply throw it all away just because I'm upset. We can't afford to. It amounts to almost a year's salary by now.

Sooo...after considering everything you guys have been saying, and being completely desperate at this point, I'll go ahead and give 85 a try. Was anyone willing to trade some of my parts for an 85 LH fuel injection brain? I apologize if anyone had already offered me one and I have forgotten. I've completely lost my marbles in this past week and I also started deleting some of my older pm's as the folder started to fill.

If this doesn't work, I believe I will have to start looking for another car. Maybe. That's if I don't just set fire to this car and watch it burn...ha ha.

We'll see what happens.

Thanks for your help,
Kevin

Matt, despite my last post, I still really would rather have your LH. If you can ever find it in your heart to help this poor car, I'd love to buy it off you. But, as kind as your offer is to send it to me and let me use it as a guinea pig, I'd never consider putting a brain I didn't already own into this car. Besides, if it worked, you'd want it back and then I'd be hard pressed to let it go too! And if it didn't work, and your brain got toasted, we'd both be pissed and I don't want that on my conscience. Rather have you sell it up front so that you've already washed your hands of it and never expect to see it again.

Kevin,

No offense, I'm sure you've tried everything, but maybe you should split this thread into one where you're selling the body parts, and one where you're working out the issues with your car. You might get more people involved on the repair issues.

I've PM-ed you again for the front bumper.

That's a good idea. I didn't intend for this thread to end up as a tech discussion...it sort of spiraled out of control. It's all K1woods' fault!

Kevin, side topic - but why do you think you need new euro brains? From what I understand, the early LH and EZK brains are fairly robust as compared to other years?

Just kiddin, Kevin!

PM to you, Mike.
Thanks.

Sorry about that! LOL

Hang in there man, take a deep breath - walk away from it for a few days. You will find the problem. Not to mention, not only do you have a 310HP Euro S but a Supercharged Euro at that! I can only imagine what the high-rpm kickdown feels like.
