Hi Mike,

There is a small rubber piece, like a half of a rubber tube that is glued unto one of the underside ribs of the oil pan. The location is where the hard line goes over the starter. Let me know if you need a picture.

Cheers,
Constantine

Rob,

Outstanding! Thank you very much for the effort! These pics took away the guess work for mounting the lines and I could not have asked for more. Hope I can repay the favor one day.

Three day weekend coming up and that means a big chunk towards getting things bolted back on for the 5 speed conversion.

Thanks again,
Constantine

Constantine- no problem, glad to help! From start to finish it took 5 minutes to shoot those, upload, and write the post. And it was an excuse to play in the garage on an otherwise honey-do weekend....

I wonder what DIY people did before Rennlist, the intarweb in general, and point and shoot digital cameras. Good luck with the conversion and yell if you need pics of anything else.

hey Rob,

I noticed your carpet is loose at that top corner there under where the throttle pedal is.

I had my carpets out cleaning them and couldnt figues out what held this upper portion of carpet up, no tabs or clips or anything. I guess it gets glued up there or something, it interesting your carpet is doing the same.

I always thought it a bit strange that people had to disconnect their slave cylinder line to attach the flywheel lock... now I see why.

Yep, you actually have to unbolt the hard line bracket from the oil pan in order to be able to move the slave cylinder far enough forward (the entire cylinder/hard line actually sort of rotates counterclockwise towards the front of the car) to slip the flywheel lock in place. And even then, it was a bit tight (on my car at least). Since the lock is about 2" long, that's how far forward the slave cylinder must be moved.

BTW, I already have many of these pictures because I was working on a late model, 5-speed writeup of the TB/WP repalcement, using John Pirtle's as a template.

Here's the flywheel lock in place (before all the oilpan cleaning......)

Thanks Rob. I'm going to have to look into this more closely one of these days. I know I don't have the bracket on the sway bar mount. I see the advantages of having it the way I do, but I'll have to investigate and make sure some PO didn't do something stupid to make it go together.

Mike,

I will send you a pic of the rubber piece tonight when I can take a snap of it.

Rob,

Thanks again for the pedal assembly pic. I just detailed the pedal assembly by taking off the black paint, taking everything apart and replacing the bushings and greasing all the joints. Something about cast aluminum that just looks so cool, especially in a stripped track car interior. Hopefully I will be installing the pedal assembly this weekend, after mounting the master cylinder to the firewall.

Have a great day,
Constantine

Hi Mike,

Here is a snap of the rubber piece under the oil pan. The view is from the back of the car looking forward. The more I thought about this it would seem a better idea to cut a length of rubber tubing and just place it over the line at strategic places with plastic zip ties to protect it from the oil pan.

HTH,
Constantine
