Dave,
Sounds like you've been busy! If I only had your talent....Yep, it's running pretty solid these days, after the last trip to the shop it seemed to work out for the better. I have about 200 miles to go and we're going to check the engine operation again. The lights seem to be working okay, but when the headlights are up the "tail light" bulb is lit up on the dash. Checked the lights and seem to be working fine...Need to probably switch out to new bulbs. Also, there's a small black box literally hanging from the dash on the drivers side ...any clue? Other than that, I'm taking it to work tomorrow...I teach high school and the kids love it! Hope you're having a good week....It's almost Friday! Take Care.

Not so sure about the talent... Determination & persistence, yeah... Just had the car aligned today and it drives better than ever. I am, without a doubt, taking the long way to work in the morning.

Tail warning probably means clean all marker bulb sockets and replace the bulbs. Clean the tail light fuses too.

Not sure what to tell you about the box. Can you get a pic or otherwise offer a better description? Size, # of wires, shape of connector, etc would help.

BTW, what do you teach?

Yep, having a great week. Put two big projects behind me -- the wrenching project and another that involved shoveling and carting about 3,000 lbs of gravel from the driveway to the back yard. Yeeha! Saturday I get to build a shed.

Dave,
Sounds like you've been busy! Hauling gravel around, now that's a job! I'm glad the alignment worked out for you, I think mine could use one as well. Thanks for the tip, I'll clean the bulbs and sockets up this weekend and see what happens. First I have to get the bulbs..... I'll get out there and take some pictures of my car and get some of the mysterious black box. It's about a 6"x10" box that is hanging down by a white wire from underneath the dash? I know, I'll get a pix.

I teach special ed, behavior/emotionally impaired 9-12th graders. Basically the angry kids that want to drop out or like to fight. They're actually easy once you know where they're at and I really like it. I teach English and U.S. History.

I keep looking at your Porsche and wishing my was as shiny! It is super cool! Mine will get there, first the engine, then the body.....right.

Good luck on the shed, is it a large one? Try to get some time out with your pretty car this Sat! I've got a few people coming over to watch a ball game. Michigan State Univ. vs Univ. Of Mich, Big Game for me! Go MSU! Anyways, hope your day went well and thanks again for the advice. Take care.

You're probably better off replacing the bulbs instead of trying to clean them. It's possible that they're just mismatched, and by starting fresh you'll know what you've got. If one bulb is a lot newer than the rest, or a different brand(even from a different lot #) it can trigger the warning.

As for the black box... I have no clue. Does it make a ticking noise? Does it have an ominous set of digits counting down to zero?

Your job sounds like it can be very rewarding. Good job security, too... from what I can remember of my 9-12th grade years, it seemed like just about everyone was emotionally impaired.

Don't worry so much about the paint... you can't see it when you're driving anyway!

Shed's an 8x6, but I filled in a pretty sizeable area with gravel -- about 2x the area that really needed it. Looks good though. G'luck on the game(especially if you're the bettin' type )
