Check your state laws but 35% on the sides with 20% on the back hatch is the shizzle in my book!

Oh, and I'll be driving it home

Very nice Kevin. It's a lot of work isn't it? I had a much more difficult time getting the 2nd side to match the first than making the original plug. Did you go to the elaborate template method I used, or did you find an easier way? Did you use clay or bondo, or something else to form the plug?

I painted the car Thursday night and color sanded and buffed Friday - They look like they were born there. All angles show beautifully. These took me 4 months to get right and over 100 hours to install and finish. One month of that was building the nerve to cut up a perfectly good S4! But the results are very good. They look very close to a GTS except they are 1/2" wider and roll a bit more smoothly into the doors and wells.

I welcome any comments, both positive and negative.

Fine job Kevin!
As for the fuel door, I recently bought one from my local dealer. Expensive, but available.

Hi Louie, Actually you went alot further with it than I did. Your work is top notch, and using your method I would have failed to match it. The plugs were actually genuine 928 Porsche aluminum! They are 928 front fenders turned opposite for the rear and modified. Fit like a glove and I cannot help wondering if Porsche didn't modify their tooling for the q-panels with the tooling from the fenders to produce gts q-panels. This sounds easy but it was a s#@load of sweat and aggravation not to mention money. You know what I'm talkin' about. The result was a factory look and I broke molds right off the car. Alot cheaper than buying fenders again and going through all that work.If I get hit, just cut em' out and install a new complete part. BTW Congratulations on that engine Louie. It must be a monster.

Kevin,
Very creative! I'm glad it worked out. I was wondering how you got them done so quickly. Probably wasn't so quick from your point of view though.

The engine is awesome so far. I still have a lot of finish work to do. I'm making the mold for the CF air box now. I'm not driving it of course with no air filter, but I do like to start it and just listen.

This thread sure deserves resurection! Kevin, did you take pictures of the work-in-progress? Gorgeous car, I suppose Porsche keept the body lines straight until the GTS in order to optimize airflow but these fenders literally transform the stance of the car! Job very well done.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, Thanks for inquiring. I do have some pics of the progress as some were lost when the dig. cam. went south. I can post them here or send them to you if your interested. Neat thing is this can be done to any 928. My next project is an pre-s4 rear bumper cover. I think the tail light wells would look great glassed in and replaced with late model corvette tail lights ,recessed in. Too many projects! I am also building a very cool air-to-air intercooler for my Murf928 sc kit, and deciding what to do with a spare 87 engine. Low comp,high-boost monster? Or stroke it maybe. Nah, too boring!

I must have this done! I want to copy the molds and start cutting. I sure wish I didnt just have the whole car repainted last month though!

Fine workmanship
