HELLO! SELLER!

If you dont have a dyno to verify what that engine is making, why in the hell would you say then its got 500HP! Dont worry, no one from Rennlist will be buying it. The reason it got any attention at all here is cause its outrageous! You should be a more responsible Ebay seller honestly, if you dont know, then DONT CLAIM it makes DOUBLE whats realistic for that thing.

As for Mark, I am sure mark never put the idea in your head that it makes 500HP, if fact i know he didnt. You would be doing 928intl a favor by not mentioning them! When you list them, along with your insane HP figures that reflects badly upon them, they wouldnt put such a figure in your head.

Bottom line is, IF YOU DONT KNOW, THEN YOU DONT LIST ANYTHING! Again, i dont think anyone here is taking the sale of that car seriously, but I think your grossly misrepresenting the vehicle your selling and thats just shady frankly!

Also, stating

"it sure feels like 500hp" ????

Have you even been in a car with 500HP cause frankly there arent a whole lot of cars in that range! Think about it, a pretty heavily modified 993 TT would be able to produce that figure, a brand new $100,000 BMW M6 has 500 HP, a new Corvette Z06 has 505, a Viper is 510 ish, Merc SL600, A Carrera GT is 600 something, Hell Ferrari doesnt even offer a car for sale with 500HP (F599 i guess) Point is thats some serious machinery, SOME SERIOUS HARDWARE! Thats elite company, not to be confused with 1980, beat to **** 928's. (sorry owners of other project 928's but unless we are stupid we all know that are cars arent in that league.)

500 HP is allot! Honestly come to think of it, I dont think ive ever driven a car with 500HP, so I for one have no idea what "500hp feels like" And I am sure there are more then a few others here on this board that have never been in a 500HP whatever as well. I imagine you yourself have never been in a car with that much power as well, thus your statement professing what you believe the car to be producing is just simply ignorant.

Aside from that i think $7500 is optimistic for a stock 1980 928 with a mileage question.

Enough said

Kurtis,

Please correct the listing on ebay, your credibility is falling fast. You are only hurting the car and the next owner. We may have to clean up your mess. Please consider this request.

You can ask him to see my long list of parts i've bought in the past year and parts bought from the previous owner to back my ebay listing. As for the 500 hp that i know it doesn't have and i should have specified that alittle more clearly (which i'm doing to all people who ask) I do have to say the car runs like a dream and at times when you wind it out on the open road it sure does feel like 500 hp. However i know it does not have that and that is why i never said it did on the ebay posting. Since i live in such a small town there are no dyno shops near and i wish i knew what the hp rating was at. In talking with mark anderson he said he would not be surprised if it was around 350 to his scale. Also to clear up the speedo issue that some of you have. It did go bad on a trip to ohio and i had to be replaced this summer. You can ask mark about that also, since he did sell me one and also received the core exchange and can verify the mileage. I was contacted by my ebay memeber with intrest in the car and told me about this forum. They were all optomistic, as the rest of you are, on some of the things on this porsche. So I felt it would be a good thing for me to get on hear and clear some of this up. Also spoke with mark anderson and want to thank him for straghtening some of this out for me. I know his opinion is well respected in the 928 community. So if anyone out there has any other questions about the car feel free to contact me.

Kurtis

I second that,

I suggest you change the wording of your add when you relist it and adjust the price.

thanks for the imput. But once again you don't have your facts ryan. I never said mark anderson said it had 500hp that is what i was told from th old owner. I knew it did not have that. That is why if you actually read my ebay listing you will thati never says that it has 500 hp. Also when i say it feels like 500hp that is a way for me to express to people of how quick and powerfull it is. It's very hard to describe how well a car runs by typing it out on a listing. Everyone who is looking at the car knows this and aren't stupid. You just reading into this to much. Sounds like you have had some bad ebay experiences. And as for any messes to clean up, mark already cleaned and verified everything. Get your facts readall the info before posting things that aren't even true. I KNOW IT DOESN'T HAVE 500 HP AND I NEVER SAID IT DID NOR DID ANYONE ELSE GET IT!!!!! also there are currently 55 people watching this listing so it must not be to much of a piece of ****. huh

Kurtis,

This quote from your eBay auction sure seems to push the 500 HP premise, don't you think ? As for the status of your auction, out of the 40+ 928's on auction, nearly all have bids except yours. I think your use of the word "perfect" in your auctions ( your other auction for the VW has the cloth interior as "perfect" in a 110,000 mile car!!) and hyperbole in describing features about your 928, suggesting that 928 Int. "built" the motor, stating TB, water pump, et. al. is new with rebuilt motor without mentioning motor is 10 years old, etc. gives that Used Car Dealer slippery feel.

As for a dynometer, New Brighton is pretty close to Pittsburgh where there are at least 4 shops so equipped with rear wheel dyno's, another 2 with AWD set ups.

I can appreciate how you feel set upon but the eBay copy for this 928 went a bit over and 928 enthusiasts are always on the edge anyway -.

Cheers,

Craig

I'm watching this auction just out of curiosity. This is the one, of a few things, that I found really misleading.

"This engine is a bored and sleeved European 5.0L S4 engine"

and this comment really misleads everyone about the 500 HP

"The clutch was also replaced with a high performance clutch kit to withstand the power output. A OEM clutch kit would just burn up"

Which is just not true.

These are "German Sports Cars", we do it by the numbers, by the numbers, by the numbers.
If you want to "feel", try an "Italian Sports Car". Then "feel" the love.

This post is getting blown out of proportion from both sides. The results so far of the auction speak loud and clear. There are no bids, just a lot of curiosity seekers.

Maybe he was in another car that felt like it had 500hp, and this one feels like that one, so this one feels like 500hp too.

Kinda like the guy who sent me pictures of his car but used one of your engine. As soon as I saw the 968 valve covers I knew.

As was once penned by another fellow Rennlister...

Ahhh...the perfect start to a perfect morning...fresh coffee and Rennlist drama...it just doesn't get any better

The ad certainly appears mis-leading, at least to me. And, for those that are none the wiser, probably expect to get a 500 HP engine according to how he’s written the ad. It bum's me to see this kind of mis-leading 928 ad.

This engine is a bored and sleeved European 5.0L S4 engine. The engine was said to be rated at 500hp, but i never had it dynoed or raced
Do you really produce a 500 HP engine and not have the builder dyno it?
