Indy Area 928 Beer Night at the RAM
Edit, we switched this to First Wednesday of the month.
Same Place (Ram in Fishers)
Same time (7:00 ish)
Last night I met a fellow Rennlister named Hans, and together we would like to see if we can drum up some local 928 interest. To get thinks started initially, we thought we coordinate a couple 928 beer nights. We opted for first Thursday’s at the RAM restaurant & brewhouse in Fishers.
We selected this place because it’s reasonable close to a number of 928 folks that we already know, they have nice parking, it’s easy to find, and they have good beer. It’s not so important where we meet or when we meet, our primary interest is that we meet.
http://theram.com/in-fishers.php
Our first mission is to gather contact information on as many local owners as possible. To help coordinate communications and get word out, a dedicated email account has been established.
Indyarea928’at’hotmail.com (where ‘at’=@).
Please email a note to this account if you would like to be included on the distribution list. Additionally, we will reach out to the local 928OC and PCA chapters as well as create flyers to pass around.
If we can rev up enough interest with our beer nights, we’ll see if we can pull off some activities. This could be a simple as showing up to one of the Saturday Noblesville Square impromptu car shows to potentially hosting an event revolving around next years US Grand Prix F-1 race. However, for now we will focus on comradery and beer.
Following is a list of potential Rennlisters that appear to be in the area:
Brent Jenkins
low miler
Rob Underwood
GUMBALL
jyoon
redidrum
SamGant951
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforu...ad.php?t=164483
Also it appears that this was tried once before, but I can’t tell what the outcomes was… anyhow, here we go again!

Kurt,
I applaud your effort! But if I may lend some advice from someone whose been doing beer nights for the past 4 years:
1. Pick a recurring night every month - We chose the 2nd Thursday of every month. But you could also choose the XXth of every month. The key is to make sure everyone knows it. They might not be able to make it this month or next month, but eventually they'll come together.
2. Pick a place and keep it the same place. We tried a few different places, and finally settled on a small Irish pub with decent food. It doesn't get too packed to the point where you can't find a chair or hear the person next to you. But if you keep changing the place, people won't know where to go.
3. Advertise. Get everyone's email address and email about a week before the event/beer night. The majority of 928 owners will not respond, but if they know it's going on, they might just show up. Also post it here on rennlist. You'd be amazed at how many lurkers are out there. Our own Den-mother, Dennis, who manages our email list is a rennlist lurker (mostly).
Hope this helps. Would love to see a few other areas come up with their local "Beer nights." It's just too much damn fun!

Thanks for the pm auzi, although I dont own a 928 I am always up for meeting other rennlisters, checking out other Porsches and grabbing a beer. There are quite a few 951 owners in the Indy area that get together a lot and would probably make it from time to time as well if its not 928 specific.

I'll be there anytime, if possible. And it's Brett, not Brent.
The local 944/951 group is a good bunch of guys/gals, would be nice to see them there as well.
Appreciate the effort auzi. keep it up.

I've got my fingers and toes crossed... Let me know if you need someone to hand you tools because I'm not far away and am willing to help out if you need it. I’d do it just for the learning experience.

One week till our soon to be famous Beer night at the RAM. Okay, it might not be famous, but it should be fun!
We had a few people respond yes and a few maybes. We’ll keep it very informal. Every first Thursday we’ll meet at the RAM in Fishers Let say around 6:00.
Please stop by if you are in the area. I will print off some 928 OC brochures to hand out to prospective 928 owners.
Please drop an email to Indyarea928’at’hotmail.com (where ‘at’=@) to get on the distribution list.
Happy 928 day to all!

So we had a small turn out, but it’s a start. A few us got together, kicked the tires, had a nice dinner, and washed it down with some locally brewed beers. To help avoid rush hour, we decided to officially push the starting time back to 6:30ish.
A couple of us are planning on attending a local PCA event October 21st. The fall winery tour has long been a highlighted event on the CIRPCA calendar. The mid-morning buffet brunch stop is at the Brown County Inn on Route 135/46 in Nashville, Indiana. Continuing south to the Huber Winery near Starlight, southeast of Salem, drivers will find the well paved Route 135 fun and challenging. They do require registration by the 15th. See the following for more details:

Also, if the weather is permitting, we could meet up in Noblesville on the October 28th for one of the last official cruse-in of the season. It doesn’t cost anything, just show up, park, and have a look. You might find a few of us around the corner at Barley Island Brew Company. Stop by if you are in the area.

Also, if anyone is interested in a local car show this weekend… It’s only $15 and the money raised is used to help fund the Fishers Summer Freedom Festival. The weather is supposed to be perfect on Saturday. I opted out of this due to some old High School buddies pressuring into a round of golf.

Next Beer night is scheduled for Thursday, October 5th at the RAM in Fishers, 6:30 ish.
