Andre... ok, I'll make a note of that.

In Llano, TX, Cooper's or Lairds are worth mention.

I'll have to find a place in Lubbock so I can drive rte # 928
up south of Tulia.

Heinrich,

All seriousness aside, I lived in KY for about some years. I guarantee you that, if you take your beautiful 928 (any one of them) to some of those coal mining towns, you'll have to beat the women off you with a cattle shocker. Beautiful and agressive women. However, there is a county down near the Tennessee border where the women have really, really long toe-nails. Other than than, everything else about them is as functional and reliable as a 928. However, if you're looking for good BBQ, better take Macreel's advice and cruise through Texas. If you like taters, Idaho. Carrots, Utah. Possum, Tennessee. Either place, the 928 will be a hit with all. If you want to get serious, drive through West Virginia...greatest 928 drivin' roads in the country (except for trucks, potholes, and floods). Only one straight road in the state. Honacker, WV (when I was there) had a ratio of 7 women to 1 man. Sadly, even the best 928 won't accommodate this kind of load.

Go ahead and mark plans for next years SITM. You're way too close to miss it and you'll hate yourself if you do.

SITM is in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Go to 928 Specialists website. Sould be at the top of this page. I missed last years, but I made this one this year and I'm not gonna miss another. By far the best time I ever had in the best car I've ever owned. And I've had a few including an 86 944 na. Sounds like you took the same route I did. I always loved the 928, but was scared that I would never be able to afford one or maintain it. After seven years of owning a 944 and learning everything about it, I took the leap to the shark. The 928 has it's headaches as all old cars do, but it is much more rewarding.

Funny you mention Possum. When I was a kid my grandma told everybody at the dinner table about cooking Possum. She just about had everyone at the table puking. Funny thing too, she looks just like granny on the Bev. Hillbillies. Roadkill stew, yum yum.

If you've ever eaten 'possum, it's something you won't forget. Kinda like duck, one in a thousand cooks can make it taste good.

The 928 would have been a preferred machine for runnin' moonshine but it didn't have enough room for a reasonable sized payload. But I'll bet there wasn't a revenooner in the country what could catch one though! Opportunity missed.
