Default Cost of Jet Hot Coating MSDS headers?

1). so last year i bought a set of MSDS headers off ebay since they were jet hot coated and mine weren't i figured it would be easier to buy the coated ones and sell mine that were uncoated and a little rusted. anyway, i had some trouble with the seller (not a lister, i can guess why not), he said he shipped it, then he forgot, bla bla, sorry, i finally got them. They looked good and there was a number etched into the headers. i remembered reading that jet hot etches a number into the headers for the guarantee. fast forward 5 months and i installed them on my car, and after running the car for 10 minutes, the coating started falling off in flakes! when i got the headers they looked good, a little scuffed up, but still in great condition. is there any way to find out if they were jet hot coated by the etched number? does jet hot coating flake off like that? or was i just duped?

2). how much does it cost to jet hot coat a set of msds headers? does that include for them to be stripped and prepped for the coating?

Sounds like spray paint.

You should be able to tell by the thickness.

If it's thin, like flaking paint, it probably is...

The coating should be thick, like powder-coating.

Of course this could be some really odd catastrophic failure of the coating,
so don't bust any kneecaps just yet... But it would not be unheard of to have
someone on ebay be less than totally honest about things...

I just had mine jet hot coated. They were $300.00 roughly door to door. There corporate office is ocal here in pa near to me. they UPS them back. MIne were pretty rusted, and some pitts. The ceramic coating does not eliminate the pitting but does cover the metal. I believe on old components they offer a 1 year warr. on finish and a lifetime on their new parts for finish. If you need more info look them up on the web or get their 800 number, sorry i do not have them handy. They will send you a promo video/product packet for additional info....I may even have a $10% or $25 disc. cupon on my desk if you are interested..I will have to check.

I have a 67 Firebird that has never seen rain and never ever has been washed with water in over 10 years. Meguiars Final inspection spray...My baby....Sits in tight garage. Point being...Jet hot coatings on any metal other than aluminum will rust...I am on my third warranty set of headers and these have small pitted rust marks and slight flakes. I have an aluminum intake which I jot hot coated...and its beautiful 8 years later. Headers just get to hot and for some reason they will flake. Don't waste your money...They will look great for a year or two..and then the inevitable will happen..trust me
